Chapter on the command to pray and supplicate during the eclipse of the sun and the moon.

Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah 1374
Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that we were with the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) when the sun eclipsed. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), hurriedly, dragging his shawl, came to the mosque and the people gathered around him. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led us in a two rak'at prayer, the way you pray, then when the sun was clear of the eclipse, He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) delivered a sermon and said, "Indeed, the sun and the moon are two signs amongst the signs of Allah. By them, Allah frightens His servants. They do not eclipse for the death or life of anyone. So when you see an eclipse, pray and supplicate until your difficulty is removed."

سیدنا ابوبکرہ رضی اللہ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ ہم نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس موجود تھے کہ سورج کو گرہن لگ گیا تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جلدی کی وجہ سے اپنی چادر کو کھینچے ہوئے مسجد کی طرف تشریف لے گئے اور لوگ بھی آپ کے پاس جمع ہو گئے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے دو رکعات پڑھائیں جس طرح کہ تم نماز پڑھتے ہو، پھر جب سورج گرہن چھٹ گیا تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہمیں خطبہ دیا اور فرمایا: ”بلاشبہ سورج اور چاند اللہ تعالیٰ کی نشانیوں میں سے دو نشانیاں ہیں جن کے ساتھ اللہ تعالیٰ اپنے بندوں کو ڈراتا دھمکاتا ہے، اور لوگوں میں سے کسی کی موت کی وجہ سے انہیں گرہن نہیں لگتا، لہٰذا جب تم ان دونوں میں سے کسی کو گرہن لگا دیکھو تو نماز پڑھو اور دعا مانگو حتیٰ کہ تمہاری یہ مشکل دور ہو جائے۔
Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah Radi Allahu Anhu bayan karte hain ki hum Nabi Kareem Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ke pas mojood thay ki sooraj ko girahan lag gaya to aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam jaldi ki waja se apni chadar ko khenche hue masjid ki taraf tashreef le gaye aur log bhi aap ke pas jama ho gaye, aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne do rakat parhaye jis tarah ki tum namaz parhte ho, phir jab sooraj girahan chhat gaya to aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne hamen khutba diya aur farmaya: “Bilashuba sooraj aur chand Allah Taala ki nishaniyon mein se do nishaniyan hain jin ke sath Allah Taala apne bandon ko darata dhamkata hai, aur logon mein se kisi ki mout ki waja se unhen girahan nahin lagta, lihaza jab tum in donon mein se kisi ko girahan laga dekho to namaz parho aur dua mango hatta ki tumhari yeh mushkil door ho jaye.
نَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْمِقْدَامِ الْعِجْلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زُرَيْعٍ ، نَا يُونُسُ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ ، قَالَ: كُنَّا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَانْكَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ، فَقَامَ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ يَجُرُّ رِدَاءَهُ مِنَ الْعَجَلَةِ، وَلاثَ إِلَيْهِ النَّاسُ، فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ كَمَا تُصَلُّونَ، فَلَمَّا كُشِفَ عَنْهَا خَطَبَنَا، فَقَالَ:" إِنَّ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ آيَتَانِ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ يُخَوِّفُ اللَّهُ بِهِمَا عِبَادَهُ، وَإِنَّهُمَا لا يَنْكَسِفَانِ لِمَوْتِ أَحَدٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ، فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ مِنْهُمَا شَيْئًا فَصَلُّوا، وَادْعُوا حَتَّى يَنْكَشِفَ مَا بِكُمْ"
