Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah 2084
Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) migrated to Madinah, he found the Jews observing a fast on the day of 'Ashura. When asked about it, they replied that it was the day Allah granted victory to Musa (Moses) and the Children of Israel over Pharaoh, and they fasted on this day to venerate it. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) then said, "We have more right to Musa than you." And he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ordered (the Muslims) to fast on this day. A similar narration has been reported from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), stating, "He (the Prophet) fasted on the day of 'Ashura and ordered (the Muslims) to fast on this day." Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) said that Imam Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj had asked him about this.

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما بیان کرتے ہیں کہ جب نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم مدینہ منوّرہ تشریف لائے تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے یہودیوں کو عاشوراء کا روزہ رکھتے ہوئے پایا۔ اُن سے اس بارے میں پوچھا گیا تو اُنہوں نے جواب دیا کہ اس دن اللہ تعالیٰ نے موسیٰ عليه السلام اور بنی اسرائیل کو فرعون پر غلبہ اور فتح دی تھی لہٰذا اس دن کی تعظیم کے لئے روزہ رکھتے ہیں تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”ہم تمہاری نسبت حضرت موسیٰ عليه السلام کے زیادہ قریبی اور حقدار ہیں۔“ اور آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس دن کا روزہ رکھنے کا حُکم دیا۔ جناب ابوبشر سے اسی طرح روایت مروی ہے۔ اس میں یہ ہے کہ ”آپ نے عاشوراء کا روزہ رکھا اور اس دن کا روزہ رکھنے کا حُکم بھی دیا۔“ امام ابوبکر رحمه الله فرماتے ہیں کہ امام مسلم بن حجاج نے مجھ سے اس بارے میں سوال کیا تھا۔
Sayydena Ibn Abbas Radi Allaho Anhuma bayan karte hain ke jab Nabi Kareem Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam Madina Munawwara tashreef laaye to aap Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam ne yahudiyon ko Ashura ka roza rakhte hue paya un se is bare mein poocha gaya to unhon ne jawab diya ke is din Allah Taala ne Musa Alaihi Salam aur Bani Israel ko Firaun per galba aur fatah di thi lihaza is din ki tazeem ke liye roza rakhte hain to Rasul Allah Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya hum tumhari nisbat Hazrat Musa Alaihi Salam ke zyada qareebi aur haqdaar hain aur aap Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam ne is din ka roza rakhne ka hukum diya Janab Abu Bakr se isi tarha riwayat marwi hai is mein ye hai ke aap ne Ashura ka roza rakha aur is din ka roza rakhne ka hukum bhi diya Imam Abu Bakr Rahmatullah Alaih farmate hain ke Imam Muslim bin Hajjaj ne mujh se is bare mein sawal kiya tha
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هَاشِمٍ زِيَادُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ , حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ , أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بِشْرٍ , عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ , عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ , قَالَ: لَمَّا قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَدِينَةَ وَجَدَ الْيَهُودَ يَصُومُونَ عَاشُورَاءَ , فَسُئِلُوا عَنْ ذَلِكَ , فَقَالُوا: هَذَا الْيَوْمُ الَّذِي أَظْهَرَ اللَّهُ فِيهِ مُوسَى وَبَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ عَلَى فِرْعَوْنَ , وَنَحْنُ نَصُومُهُ تَعْظِيمًا لَهُ , فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" نَحْنُ أَوْلَى بِمُوسَى مِنْكُمْ". وَأَمَرَ بِصِيَامِهِ . حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ , حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ , عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ بِهَذَا نَحْوَهُ. قَالَ: فَصَامَهُ، وَأَمَرَ بِصَوْمِهِ. قَالَ لَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ: مُسْلِمُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ كَانَ سَأَلَنِي عَنْ هَذَا
