Ibn ‘Abbas told how the Prophet said when he got up during the night to pray, “O God, to Thee be the praise; Thou art supreme over the heavens and the earth and their inhabitants. To Thee be the praise; Thou art the Light of the heavens and the earth and their inhabitants. To Thee be the praise; Thou art the King of the heavens and the earth and their inhabitants. To Thee be the praise; Thou art the Truth, Thy promise is truth, the meeting with Thee is true, Thy word is true, paradise is true, hell is true, the prophets are true, Muhammad is true, the last hour is true. O God, to Thee I submit, in Thee I believe upon Thee I trust, to Thee I repent, by Thy help I have disputed, and to Thee I have come for decision, so forgive me my former and my latter sins, my secret and my open sins, and what Thou knowest better than I. Thou art He who brings forward, and Thou art He who defers. There is no god but Thee, and there is no other god than Thee.” (Bukhari and Muslim.)

ابن عباس ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں جب نبی ﷺ تہجد پڑھتے تو (اللہ اکبر کہنے کے بعد) یہ دعا پڑھتے : اے اللہ ! ہر قسم کی حمد تیرے ہی لیے ہے ، زمین و آسمان اور جو کچھ ان میں ہے انہیں تو ہی قائم رکھنے والا ہے ، ہر قسم کی تعریف تیرے ہی لیے ہے ، زمین و آسمان اور جو کچھ ان میں ہے اس کا تو ہی نور ہے ، ہر قسم کی تعریف تیرے لیے ہے زمین و آسمان اور جو کچھ اس میں ہے اس کا تو ہی مالک ہے ، ہر قسم کی تعریف تیرے ہی لیے ہے تو حق ہے ، تیرا وعدہ حق ہے ، تیری ملاقات حق ہے ، تیری بات حق ہے ، جنت حق ہے ، جہنم حق ہے ، تمام انبیا علیہم السلام حق ہیں ، محمد (ﷺ) حق ہیں ، اور قیامت حق ہے ، اے اللہ ! میں تیرے سامنے جھک گیا ، تجھ پر ایمان لایا ، تجھ پر توکل کیا ، تیری طرف رجوع کیا ، میں نے تیری ہی توفیق سے جھگڑا کیا ، میں نے تجھے ہی اپنا حاکم تصور کیا ، پس تو میرے اگلے پچھلے ، ظاہر و پوشیدہ اور جنہیں تو مجھ سے زیادہ جانتا ہے وہ سارے گناہ معاف فرما دے ، تو ہی ترقی اور تنزلی دینے والا ہے ، صرف تو ہی معبود ہے اور تیرے سوا کوئی معبود برحق نہیں ۔‘‘ متفق علیہ ۔
Ibn Abbas bayan karte hain jab Nabi tahajud parhte to (Allah Akbar kehne ke baad) yeh dua parhte: Aye Allah! Har qisam ki hamd tere hi liye hai, zameen o asmaan aur jo kuchh in mein hai unhen to hi qaem rakhne wala hai, har qisam ki tareef tere hi liye hai, zameen o asmaan aur jo kuchh in mein hai is ka to hi noor hai, har qisam ki tareef tere liye hai zameen o asmaan aur jo kuchh is mein hai is ka to hi malik hai, har qisam ki tareef tere hi liye hai tu haq hai, tera waada haq hai, teri mulaqat haq hai, teri baat haq hai, jannat haq hai, jahannam haq hai, tamam anbiya alaihimussalam haq hain, Muhammad haq hain, aur qayamat haq hai, aye Allah! Main tere samne jhuk gaya, tujh par emaan laya, tujh par توکل kiya, teri taraf rujoo kiya, maine teri hi taufeeq se jhagda kiya, maine tujhe hi apna hakim tasavvur kiya, pas tu mere agle pichhle, zahir o poshida aur jinhen tu mujhse zyada janta hai wo sare gunah maaf farma de, tu hi taraqqi aur tanzili dene wala hai, sirf tu hi mabood hai aur tere siwa koi mabood barhaq nahin. Muttafiq alaih.
عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ يَتَهَجَّدُ قَالَ: «اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ قَيِّمُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَنْ فِيهِنَّ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ نُورُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَنْ فِيهِنَّ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ مَلِكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَنْ فِيهِنَّ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ الْحَقُّ وَوَعْدُكَ الْحَقُّ وَلِقَاؤُكَ حَقٌّ وَقَوْلُكَ حَقٌّ وَالْجَنَّةُ حَقٌّ وَالنَّارُ حَقٌّ وَالنَّبِيُّونَ حَقٌّ وَمُحَمَّدٌ حَقٌّ وَالسَّاعَةُ حَقٌّ اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ أَسْلَمْتُ وَبِكَ آمَنْتُ وَعَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَإِلَيْكَ أَنَبْتُ وَبِكَ خَاصَمْتُ وَإِلَيْكَ حَاكَمْتُ فَاغْفِرْ لِي مَا قَدَّمْتُ وَمَا أَخَّرْتُ وَمَا أَسْرَرْتُ وَمَا أَعْلَنْتُ وَمَا أَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِهِ مِنِّي أَنْتَ الْمُقَدِّمُ وَأَنْتَ الْمُؤَخِّرُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ وَلَا إِلَهَ غَيْرك»
