Qatada told of hearing Anas say that when there was an alarm in Medina the Prophet borrowed from Abu Talha a horse called al-Mandub which he rode. When he returned he said, “I did not see anything, and I found that the horse could run as speedily as a great river.” (Bukhari and Muslim.)

قتادہ ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں ، میں نے انس ؓ کو بیان کرتے ہوئے سنا : مدینہ میں (دشمن کی آمد کا) شور سا اٹھا تو نبی ﷺ نے ابوطلحہ ؓ سے مندوب نامی گھوڑا مستعار لیا اور اس پر سوار ہو گئے ، جب آپ ﷺ واپس تشریف لائے تو فرمایا :’’ ہم نے کوئی چیز نہیں دیکھی ، البتہ ہم نے (تیز رفتاری میں) اسے سمندر پایا ۔‘‘ متفق علیہ ۔
Qatada bayan karte hain, maine Anas ko bayan karte huye suna: Madina mein (dushman ki aamad ka) shor sa utha to Nabi ne Abu Talha se Mandub naami ghora mustaar liya aur is par sawar ho gaye, jab Aap wapas tashreef laaye to farmaya: ''Hum ne koi cheez nahin dekhi, albatta hum ne (tez raftari mein) ise samandar paya.'' Mutaffiq alaih.
وَعَن قَتَادَة قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا يَقُولُ: كَانَ فَزَعٌ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فَاسْتَعَارَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَرَسًا مِنْ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ يُقَالُ لَهُ: الْمَنْدُوبُ فَرَكِبَ فَلَمَّا رَجَعَ قَالَ: «مَا رَأَيْنَا مِنْ شَيْءٍ وَإِن وَجَدْنَاهُ لبحرا»
