Mishkat al-Masabih 5361
Abu Sa'eed reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: "You will follow the ways of those who were before you, span by span, and cubit by cubit, and even if they should enter into the hole of a sand lizard, you will follow them." It was said: "Allah's Messenger! (Do you mean) the Jews and the Christians?" He said: "Who else?" (Agreed upon)

ابوسعید ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں ، رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ تم اپنے سے پہلے لوگوں کے طریقوں کی پیروی و موافقت کرو گے جس طرح بالشت بالشت کے برابر اور ہاتھ ہاتھ کے برابر ہوتا ہے ، حتیٰ کہ اگر وہ سانڈے کے بل میں گھسے ہوں گے تو تم بھی ان کی موافقت کرو گے ۔‘‘ عرض کیا گیا ، اللہ کے رسول ! (پہلے لوگوں سے مراد) یہود و نصاریٰ ؟ آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ تو پھر اور کون ہیں ؟‘‘ متفق علیہ ۔
Abu Saeed bayan karte hain, Rasool Allah ne farmaya: ''Tum apne se pehle logon ke tariqon ki pairavi o muwafqat karoge jis tarah balisht balisht ke barabar aur hath hath ke barabar hota hai, hatta ke agar wo sande ke bil mein ghusenge to tum bhi unki muwafqat karoge.'' Arz kiya gaya, Allah ke Rasool! (Pehle logon se murad) Yahoodi o Nasara? Aap ne farmaya: ''To phir aur kaun hain?'' Muttafiq Alaih.
وَعَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَتَتَّبِعُنَّ سُننَ مَنْ قبلكُمْ شبْرًا بشبرٍ وذراعاً بذراعٍ حَتَّى لَوْ دَخَلُوا جُحْرَ ضَبٍّ تَبِعْتُمُوهُمْ» . قِيلَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ الْيَهُودَ وَالنَّصَارَى؟ قَالَ: «فَمَنْ» . مُتَّفق عَلَيْهِ
