Description of the virtues and merits of Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA)
بيان مناقب حضرة أبو بكر رضي الله عنه

Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) commanded us to give charity. I had some wealth at that time, so I thought (to myself): "If possible, I will surpass Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) today." He (Umar) continued, "I went with half of my wealth, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked me, 'What have you left for your family?' I replied, 'The same amount (meaning the other half).' Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) came with all of his possessions, and you (O Messenger of Allah) asked him, 'What have you left for your family?' He replied, 'I have left Allah and His Messenger (to take care of them).' I (Umar) said (to myself), 'I can never surpass him in any matter.'" This hadith has a Hasan chain of narration. It was narrated by Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud.

عمر ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں ، رسول اللہ ﷺ نے ہمیں صدقہ کرنے کا حکم فرمایا ، اس وقت میرے پاس مال بھی تھا ، میں نے (دل میں) کہا : اگر ہو سکا تو میں آج ابوبکر ؓ پر سبقت لے جاؤں گا ، وہ بیان کرتے ہیں ، میں اپنا نصف مال لے کر حاضر ہوا تو رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ اپنے گھر والوں کے لیے کیا چھوڑ کر آئے ہو ؟‘‘ میں نے عرض کیا : اتنا ہی (یعنی نصف) ابوبکر ؓ اپنا سارا اثاثہ لے کر حاضر ہو گئے تو آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ ابوبکر ! اپنے گھر والوں کے لیے کیا چھوڑ کر آئے ہو ؟‘‘ انہوں نے عرض کیا : ان کے لیے اللہ اور اس کے رسول (کی رضا) چھوڑ کر آیا ہوں ، میں (عمر ؓ) نے کہا : میں کسی چیز میں ان سے کبھی بھی سبقت حاصل نہیں کر سکتا ۔ اسنادہ حسن ، رواہ الترمذی و ابوداؤد ۔
Umar RA bayan karte hain, Rasool Allah SAW ne hamen sadqa karne ka hukum farmaya, us waqt mere paas maal bhi tha, maine (dil mein) kaha: agar ho saka to main aaj Abu Bakr RA par sabqat le jaonga, wo bayan karte hain, main apna nisf maal le kar hazir hua to Rasool Allah SAW ne farmaya: ''apne ghar walon ke liye kya chhor kar aaye ho?'', maine arz kiya: itna hi (yani nisf) Abu Bakr RA apna sara asasa le kar hazir ho gaye to aap SAW ne farmaya: ''Abu Bakr! apne ghar walon ke liye kya chhor kar aaye ho?'', unhon ne arz kiya: un ke liye Allah aur us ke Rasool (ki raza) chhor kar aaya hun, main (Umar RA) ne kaha: main kisi cheez mein un se kabhi bhi sabqat hasil nahin kar sakta. Isnaadahu hasan, riwayatul Tirmizi wa Abu Dawood.
وَعَن\عُمَرَ قَالَ: أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ نَتَصَدَّقَ وَوَافَقَ ذَلِكَ عِنْدِي مَالًا فَقُلْتُ: الْيَوْمَ أَسْبِقُ أَبَا بَكْرٍ إِنْ سَبَقْتُهُ يَوْمًا. قَالَ: فَجِئْتُ بِنِصْفِ مَالِي. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَا أَبْقَيْتَ لِأَهْلِكَ؟» فَقُلْتُ: مِثْلَهُ. وَأَتَى أَبُو بَكْرٍ بِكُلِّ مَا عِنْدَهُ. فَقَالَ: «يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ؟ مَا أَبْقَيْتَ لِأَهْلِكَ؟» . فَقَالَ: أَبْقَيْتُ لَهُمُ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ. قُلْتُ: لَا أَسْبِقُهُ إِلَى شَيْءٍ أَبَدًا. رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيّ وَأَبُو دَاوُد\
