Chapter: The vow of a disbeliever, and what he should do about it if he becomes a muslim

باب نَذْرِ الْكَافِرِ وَمَا يَفْعَلُ فِيهِ إِذَا أَسْلَمَ
Sahih Muslim 1656d
lbn Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that when Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) came back from the Battle of Hunain, Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) asked Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) about the vow he had taken during the days of ignorance that he would observe I'tikaf for a day. The rest of the Hadith is the same.
حضرت ابن عمر رضی اللہ تعالی عنہما بیان کرتے ہیں، جب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جنگ حنین سے لوٹے، تو حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالی عنہ نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے اسی نذر کے بارے میں سوال کیا، جو انہوں نے جاہلیت کے دور میں مانی تھی، یعنی ایک دن کا اعتکاف، آگے مذکورہ بالا روایت ہے۔
Hazrat Ibn Umar (Razi Allahu Ta'ala Anhuma) bayan karte hain, jab Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) Jang e Hunain se laute, to Hazrat Umar (Razi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu) ne Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) se isi nazr ke bare mein sawal kiya, jo unhone jahiliyat ke dor mein mani thi, yaani ek din ka itekaf, aage mazkoora bala riwayat hai.
وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ لَمَّا قَفَلَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِنْ حُنَيْنٍ سَأَلَ عُمَرُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَنْ نَذْرٍ كَانَ نَذَرَهُ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ اعْتِكَافِ يَوْمٍ . ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ بِمَعْنَى حَدِيثِ جَرِيرِ بْنِ حَازِمٍ .
