Sahih Muslim 18c
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Said al-Khudri (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) that when the delegation of the tribe of Abdul Qais came to the Prophet of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), (its members) said : Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), may God enable us to lay down our lives for you, which beverage is good for us? He (the Prophet ﷺ) said : You should not drink in the wine jars. They said : Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), may God enable us to lay down our lives for you, do you know what al-naqir is? He (the Prophet ﷺ) replied : Yes, it is a stump which you hollow out in the middle, and added : Do not use gourd or receptacle (for drink). Use water-skin, the mouth of which is tied with a thong (for this purpose).
حضرت ابو سعید خدری رضی الله عنه بیان کرتے ہیں کہ جب عبد القیس کا وفد نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آیا تو انھوں نے پوچھا: اے اللہ کے نبی! اللہ تعالیٰ ہمیں آپ پر فدا کرے۔ کون سے مشروبات ہمارے لیے درست ہیں؟ تو آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) نے جواب دیا: ”لکڑی میں کھدے ہوئے برتن میں نہ پیو۔ کہنے لگے: اے اللہ کے نبی! اللہ تعالیٰ ہمیں آپ پر قربان کرے۔ آپ ؐ جانتےہیں نقیر کیا ہے؟ فرمایا: ”ہاں“ درخت کا تنا جس کو درمیان سے کھود لیا جاتا ہے (یعنی چٹو) اور نہ خشک کدّو کے برتن میں اور نہ سبز گھڑے میں، مشکیزوں میں پیو جن کا منھ بندھا ہوا ہو۔
Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (Radhi Allahu Anhu) bayan karte hain ke jab Abdul Qais ka wafd Nabi Akram (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ke pas aaya to unhon ne pucha: Ae Allah ke Nabi! Allah Ta'ala humein Aap par fida kare. Kaun se mashrubat hamare liye durust hain? To Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ne jawab diya: "Lakri mein khude hue bartan mein na piyo. Kehne lage: Ae Allah ke Nabi! Allah Ta'ala humein Aap par qurban kare. Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) jaante hain naqeer kya hai? Farmaya: "Haan" darakht ka tana jis ko darmiyan se khood liya jata hai (yaani chatto) aur na khushk kaddu ke bartan mein aur na sabz ghare mein, mashkeezon mein piyo jin ka munh bandha hua ho.
حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ، - وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو قَزَعَةَ، أَنَّ أَبَا نَضْرَةَ، أَخْبَرَهُ وَحَسَنًا، أَخْبَرَهُمَا أَنَّ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ وَفْدَ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ لَمَّا أَتَوْا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالُوا يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ جَعَلَنَا اللَّهُ فِدَاءَكَ مَاذَا يَصْلُحُ لَنَا مِنَ الأَشْرِبَةِ فَقَالَ " لاَ تَشْرَبُوا فِي النَّقِيرِ " . قَالُوا يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ جَعَلَنَا اللَّهُ فِدَاءَكَ أَوَتَدْرِي مَا النَّقِيرُ قَالَ " نَعَمِ الْجِذْعُ يُنْقَرُ وَسَطُهُ وَلاَ فِي الدُّبَّاءِ وَلاَ فِي الْحَنْتَمَةِ وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالْمُوكَى " .
