Sahih Muslim 2353e
Ibn Abbas (رضئ ِهللا تعالی عنہ) reported that Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) stayed in Makka for fifteen years (after his advent as a Prophet) and he heard the voice of Jibreel (عليه السالم) and saw his radiance for seven years but did not see any visible form, and then received revelation for ten years, and he stayed in Medina for ten years.
حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم مکہ میں پندرہ سال قیام پذیر رہے،سات سال تک آواز سنتے رہے اور روشنی دیکھتے رہے، کوئی شکل نہ دیکھتے تھے، آٹھ سال وحی آتی رہی اور دس سال مدینہ میں رہے۔
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (Razi Allahu Anhu) bayan karte hain, Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) Makkah mein pandrah saal qiyam pazeer rahe, saat saal tak awaz sunte rahe aur roshni dekhte rahe, koi shakal na dekhte the, aath saal Wahi aati rahi aur das saal Madina mein rahe.
وَحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْحَنْظَلِيُّ، أَخْبَرَنَا رَوْحٌ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ أَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِمَكَّةَ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ سَنَةً يَسْمَعُ الصَّوْتَ وَيَرَى الضَّوْءَ سَبْعَ سِنِينَ وَلاَ يَرَى شَيْئًا وَثَمَانَ سِنِينَ يُوحَى إِلَيْهِ وَأَقَامَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ عَشْرًا .
