Chapter: The Prohibition Of Forsaking Someone For More Than Three Days For No Legitimate Reason

باب تَحْرِيمِ الْهَجْرِ فَوْقَ ثَلاَثٍ بِلاَ عُذْرٍ شَرْعِيٍّ
Sahih Muslim 2560a
Abu Ayyub Ansari (رضي الله تعالى عنه) reported Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) as saying, it is not permissible for a Muslim to have estranged relations with his brother beyond three nights, the one turning one way and the other turning the other way when they meet; the better of the two is one who is the first to give a greeting.
حضرت ابوایوب انصاری رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا:"کسی مسلمان کے لیےجائز نہیں ہے کہ وہ اپنے بھائی کو تین راتوں سے زائد چھوڑ دے کہ باہمی ملیں تو یہ ادھر منہ کرلے،وہ ادھر نہ کرلے،ان میں سے بہتر وہی ہے،جو سلام کرنے میں پہل کرے۔"
Hazrat Abu Ayyub Ansari (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu) se riwayat hai ke Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "Kisi Musalman ke liye jaiz nahi hai ke woh apne bhai ko teen raaton se zaid chor de ke bahami milein toh yeh idhar munh kar le, woh idhar munh kar le, in mein se behtar wahi hai, jo salam karne mein pehal kare."
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، اللَّيْثِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الأَنْصَارِيِّ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " لاَ يَحِلُّ لِمُسْلِمٍ أَنْ يَهْجُرَ أَخَاهُ فَوْقَ ثَلاَثِ لَيَالٍ يَلْتَقِيَانِ فَيُعْرِضُ هَذَا وَيُعْرِضُ هَذَا وَخَيْرُهُمَا الَّذِي يَبْدَأُ بِالسَّلاَمِ " .
