Sahih Muslim 2638b
It was narrated from Abu Hurairah (رضي الله تعالی عنہ) in a Hadith which he attributed to the Prophet (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم), ‘people are of different qualities like silver and gold; the best of them in the Jahiliyyah will be the best of them in Islam if they attain the true understanding of religion. And souls are like conscripted soldiers; those whom they recognize they come together, and those whom they do not recognize, they stay away.
حضرت ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ مرفوعاً بیان کرتے ہیں، آپ نے فرمایا:" لوگ سونے چاندی کی معدن (کان) کی طرح معدنیات ہیں ان میں جو لوگ جاہلیت کے دور میں بہتر تھے وہ اسلام میں بھی بہتر ہیں بشرطیکہ دین کی سوجھ بوجھ پیدا کر لیں۔اور ارواح مجتمع لشکر ہیں چنانچہ جن میں جان پہچان تھی۔ان میں الفت ہو گئی اور جن میں غیریت تھی اجنبی تھیں وہ الگ الگ رہیں گی۔"
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (Raziyallahu Anhu) marfu'an bayan karte hain, Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "Log sone chandi ki ma'dan (kaan) ki tarah ma'daniyat hain, un mein jo log jahiliyat ke daur mein behtar the woh Islam mein bhi behtar hain, basharte ke deen ki soojh boojh paida kar len. Aur arwah mujtami' lashkar hain chunanchah jin mein jaan pehchan thi, un mein ulfat ho gayi aur jin mein ghairiyat thi, ajnabi thi woh alag alag rahengi."
حَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا كَثِيرُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ بُرْقَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ الأَصَمِّ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، بِحَدِيثٍ يَرْفَعُهُ قَالَ " النَّاسُ مَعَادِنُ كَمَعَادِنِ الْفِضَّةِ وَالذَّهَبِ خِيَارُهُمْ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ خِيَارُهُمْ فِي الإِسْلاَمِ إِذَا فَقُهُوا وَالأَرْوَاحُ جُنُودٌ مُجَنَّدَةٌ فَمَا تَعَارَفَ مِنْهَا ائْتَلَفَ وَمَا تَنَاكَرَ مِنْهَا اخْتَلَفَ " .
