Chapter: Keeping the prayer and khutbah short

باب تَخْفِيفِ الصَّلاَةِ وَالْخُطْبَةِ
Sahih Muslim 867b
Ja'far bin Muhammad narrated on the authority of his father that he said, ‘I heard Jabir bin Abdullah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) saying, ‘in the sermon of the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) he praised Allah, lauded Him (and subsequently said (other words) and raised his voice’, and the rest of the Hadith is the same).
حضرت جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ جمعہ کے دن نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا خطبہ یہ تھا کہ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اللہ تعالیٰ کی حمدوثنا بیان کرتے،پھر اس کے بعد بلند آواز سے فرماتے اور مذکورہ بالا حدیث بیان کی۔
Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu) bayan karte hain ke Jumua ke din Nabi Akram (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ka khutba ye tha ke Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) Allah Ta'ala ki hamd-o-thana bayan karte, phir us ke baad buland aawaz se farmate aur mazkoora bala hadith bayan ki.
وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ، حَدَّثَنِي سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلاَلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي جَعْفَرُ، بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، يَقُولُ كَانَتْ خُطْبَةُ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ يَحْمَدُ اللَّهَ وَيُثْنِي عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ عَلَى إِثْرِ ذَلِكَ وَقَدْ عَلاَ صَوْتُهُ . ثُمَّ سَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ بِمِثْلِهِ .
