Sahih Muslim 904c
Jabir (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the sun eclipsed during the lifetime of the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) on that very day when Ibrahim (عليه السالم), the son of the Prophet ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) died. The Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) stood up and led people in (two rak'a of) prayer with six ruku and four prostrations. He commenced (the prayer) with takbir (Allahu Akbar) and then recited and prolonged his recital. He then bowed nearly the (length of time) that he stood up. He then raised his head from the ruku' and recited but less than the first recital. He then bowed (to the length of time) that he stood up. He then raised his head from the ruku' and again recited but less than the second recital. He then bowed (to the length of time) that he stood up. He then lifted his head from the ruku'. He then fell in prostration and observed two prostrations. He stood up and then bowed, observing six ruku like it, without (completing) the rak'a in them, except (this difference) that the first (stay in the ruku) was longer than the later one, and the ruku' was nearly (of the same length) as prostration. He then moved backward and the rows behind him also moved backward till we reached the extreme (Abu Bakr رضئ هللا تعال ی عنہ said, till he reached near the women). He then moved forward and the people also moved forward along with him till he stood at his (original) place (of worship). He then completed the prayer as it was required to complete and the sun brightened and he said, ‘O people, verily the sun and the moon are among the signs of Allah and they do not eclipse at the death of anyone among people (Abu Bakr رضي الله تعالى عنه said, on the death of any human being). So, when you see anything like it (of the nature of eclipse), pray till it is bright. There is nothing which you have been promised (in the next world) but I have seen it in this prayer of mine. Hell was brought to me as you saw me moving back on account of fear lest its heat might affect me; and I saw the owner of the curved staff who dragged his intestines in the fire, and he used to steal (the belongings) of the pilgrims with his curved staff. If he (the owner of the staff) became aware, he would say, it got (accidentally) entangled in my curved staff, but if he was unaware of that, he would take that away. I also saw in it (in Hell) the owner of a cat whom she had tied and did not feed her nor set her free so that she could eat the creatures of the earth, till the cat died of starvation. Paradise was brought to me, and it was on that occasion that you saw me moving forward till I stood at my place (of worship). I stretched my hand as I wanted to catch hold of its fruits so that you may see them. Then I thought of not doing it. Nothing which you have been promised was there that I did not see in this prayer of mine.
حضرت جابر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے زمانہ میں، جس دن رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے بیٹے ابراہیم رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فوت ہوئے، سورج گرہن ہو گیا، بعض لوگوں نے کہا: سورج کو گہن تو بس حضرت ابراہیم رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کی موت کی بنا پر لگ گیا ہے۔ تو نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کھڑے ہوئے اور لوگوں کو چھ رکوعوں، چار سجدوں کے ساتھ (دو رکعت) نماز پڑھائی۔ تکبیر تحریمہ سے آغاز کیا پھر قراءت کی اور طویل قراءت کی، پھر قیام کے قریب رکوع کیا، پھر رکوع سے ا پنا سر اٹھایا اور قراءت کی جو پہلی قراءت سے کم تھی، پھر قیام کے بعد رکوع کیا پھر رکوع سے اپنا سراٹھایا اور قراءت کی جو دوسری قراءت سے کم تھی پھر رکوع کیا جو قیام کے قریب تھا پھر رکوع سے اپنا سر اٹھایا پھر سجدے کے لئے جھکے اور دو سجدے کئے، پھر کھڑے ہوئے اور اس دوسری ر کعت میں بھی تین رکوع کیے،اس میں بھی ہر پہلا رکوع بعد والے رکوع سے طویل تھا اور آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا رکوع تقریباً سجدے کے برابر تھا، پھر آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم پیچھے ہٹے تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پیچھے والی صفیں بھی پیچھے ہٹ گئیں۔ ابو بکرکی روایت میں ہے کہ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم عورتوں تک پہنچ گئے پھر آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم آگے بڑھے اور آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ لوگ بھی آگے بڑھ آئے حتیٰ کہ آپ اپنی جگہ پر آ کرکھڑے ہوگئے۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نمازسے اس وقت فارغ ہوئے کہ سورج پہلی حالت کی طرف لوٹ چکا تھا یعنی روشن ہو چکا تھا پھر آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے لوگوں کو مخاطب کر کے فرمایا: ”اے لوگو! سورج اور چاند تو بس اللہ کی قدرت (کاریگری) کی نشانیوں میں سے دو نشانیاں ہی ہیں اور یہ کسی انسان کی موت کی بنا پر بے نور نہیں ہوتے (ابو بکر نے موت بشر کہا) جب تم میں سے کسی کی یہ حالت دیکھو، تو اس کے روشن ہونے تک نماز پڑھو، اور تم سے جس کا بھی وعدہ کیا گیا ہے، میں اسے اپنی اس نماز میں دیکھ چکا ہوں، آگ لائی گئی اور یہ اس وقت کی بات ہے جب تم نے مجھے دیکھا کہ میں اس سے ڈر سے پیچھے ہٹ رہا ہوں کہ میں اس کی لپیٹ میں نہ آ جاؤں یا مجھے اس کی بو نہ لگ جائے، حتی کہ میں نے اس میں ایک طرف سے مڑی ہوئی لاٹھی والے کر دیکھا۔ وہ آگ میں اپنی انتڑیاں کھینچ رہا ہے وہ اپنی اس اسی ایکطرف مڑی ہوئی لاٹھی کے ذریعے حاجیوں کی چوری کرتا تھا۔ لگر پتا چل جاتا تو کہہ دیتا نہ کپڑا میری لاٹھی کے ساتھ اٹک گیا تھا اور اگر پتا نہ چلتا، وہ چیزلے کر چلتا بنتا اور حتی کہ میں نے اس میں (دوزخ میں) بلی والی عورت کو دیکھا، جس نے اسے باندھ رکھا، نہ اسے خود کھلایا پلایا اور نہ اسے چھوڑا کہ وہ حشرات الارض سے کھا لیتی۔ حتی کہ وہ بھوک سے مر گئی۔ پھر جنت کو لایا گیا اور یہ اس وقت کی بات ہے جب تم نے مجھے آگے بڑھتے دیکھا حتی کہ میں اپنی اس جگہ پر کھڑا ہو گیا۔ اور میں نے اپنا ہاتھ بڑھایا اور میں چاہتا تھا کہ میں اس کے پھل میں سے کچھ پکڑ لوں تاکہ تم اسے دیکھ سکو، پھر مجھے یہ حقیقت کھلی کہ مجھے یہ کام نہیں کرنا چاہئیے، جس چیز کا بھی تم سے وعدہ کیا جاتا ہے میں اپنی اس نماز میں دیکھ چکا ہوں
Hazrat Jabir (radiyallahu ta'ala anhu) bayan karte hain ke Rasool Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) ke zamana mein, jis din Rasool Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) ke bete Ibrahim (radiyallahu ta'ala anhu) faut hue, sooraj garhan ho gaya, baaz logon ne kaha: sooraj ko gahan to bas Hazrat Ibrahim (radiyallahu ta'ala anhu) ki maut ki bina par lag gaya hai. To Nabi Akram (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) khare hue aur logon ko cheh rukuon, chaar sajdon ke saath (do rakat) namaz parhayi. Takbeer-e-tahreema se aaghaz kiya phir qira'at ki aur taweel qira'at ki, phir qiyam ke qareeb ruku kiya, phir ruku se apna sar uthaya aur qira'at ki jo pehli qira'at se kam thi, phir qiyam ke baad ruku kiya phir ruku se apna sar uthaya aur qira'at ki jo doosri qira'at se kam thi phir ruku kiya jo qiyam ke qareeb tha phir ruku se apna sar uthaya phir sajde ke liye jhuke aur do sajde kiye, phir khare hue aur is doosri rakat mein bhi teen ruku kiye, is mein bhi har pehla ruku baad wale ruku se taweel tha aur Aap (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) ka ruku taqreeban sajde ke barabar tha, phir Aap (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) peeche hatte to Aap (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) ke peeche wali saffein bhi peeche hatt gayin. Abu Bakr ki riwayat mein hai ke Aap (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) auraton tak pahunch gaye phir Aap (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) aage barhe aur Aap (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) ke saath log bhi aage barh aaye hatta ke Aap apni jagah par aa kar khare hogaye. Aap (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) namaz se is waqt farigh hue ke sooraj pehli halat ki taraf laut chuka tha yaani roshan ho chuka tha phir Aap (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) ne logon ko mukhatab kar ke farmaya: "Ay logo! Sooraj aur chaand to bas Allah ki qudrat (karigari) ki nishaniyon mein se do nishaniyan hi hain aur ye kisi insan ki maut ki bina par be-noor nahi hote (Abu Bakr ne maut-e-bashar kaha) jab tum mein se kisi ki ye halat dekho, to is ke roshan hone tak namaz parho, aur tum se jis ka bhi waada kiya gaya hai, main ise apni is namaz mein dekh chuka hoon, aag layi gayi aur ye is waqt ki baat hai jab tum ne mujhe dekha ke main is se darr se peeche hatt raha hoon ke main is ki lapait mein na aa jaoon ya mujhe is ki boo na lag jaye, hatta ke main ne is mein ek taraf se muri hui lathi wale ko dekha. Wo aag mein apni antrariyan kheench raha hai wo apni isi ek-taraf muri hui lathi ke zariye hajiyon ki chori karta tha. Agar pata chal jata to keh deta 'kapra meri lathi ke saath atak gaya tha' aur agar pata na chalta, wo cheez le kar chalta banta aur hatta ke main ne is mein (dozakh mein) billi wali aurat ko dekha, jis ne ise baandh rakha, na ise khud khilaya pilaya aur na ise chhora ke wo hasharat-ul-arz se kha leti. Hatta ke wo bhook se mar gayi. Phir jannat ko laya gaya aur ye is waqt ki baat hai jab tum ne mujhe aage barhte dekha hatta ke main apni is jagah par khara ho gaya. Aur main ne apna hath barhaya aur main chahta tha ke main is ke phal mein se kuch pakar loon taake tum ise dekh sako, phir mujhe ye haqeeqat khuli ke mujhe ye kaam nahi karna chahiye, jis cheez ka bhi tum se waada kiya jata hai main apni is namaz mein dekh chuka hoon"
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ، اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ - وَتَقَارَبَا فِي اللَّفْظِ - قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ انْكَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَوْمَ مَاتَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ ابْنُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ النَّاسُ إِنَّمَا انْكَسَفَتْ لِمَوْتِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ . فَقَامَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَصَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ سِتَّ رَكَعَاتٍ بِأَرْبَعِ سَجَدَاتٍ بَدَأَ فَكَبَّرَ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ فَأَطَالَ الْقِرَاءَةَ ثُمَّ رَكَعَ نَحْوًا مِمَّا قَامَ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ فَقَرَأَ قِرَاءَةً دُونَ الْقِرَاءَةِ الأُولَى ثُمَّ رَكَعَ نَحْوًا مِمَّا قَامَ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ فَقَرَأَ قِرَاءَةً دُونَ الْقِرَاءَةِ الثَّانِيَةِ ثُمَّ رَكَعَ نَحْوًا مِمَّا قَامَ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ ثُمَّ انْحَدَرَ بِالسُّجُودِ فَسَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَرَكَعَ أَيْضًا ثَلاَثَ رَكَعَاتٍ لَيْسَ فِيهَا رَكْعَةٌ إِلاَّ الَّتِي قَبْلَهَا أَطْوَلُ مِنَ الَّتِي بَعْدَهَا وَرُكُوعُهُ نَحْوًا مِنْ سُجُودِهِ ثُمَّ تَأَخَّرَ وَتَأَخَّرَتِ الصُّفُوفُ خَلْفَهُ حَتَّى انْتَهَيْنَا - وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَى النِّسَاءِ - ثُمَّ تَقَدَّمَ وَتَقَدَّمَ النَّاسُ مَعَهُ حَتَّى قَامَ فِي مَقَامِهِ فَانْصَرَفَ حِينَ انْصَرَفَ وَقَدْ آضَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَقَالَ " يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّمَا الشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ آيَتَانِ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ وَإِنَّهُمَا لاَ يَنْكَسِفَانِ لِمَوْتِ أَحَدٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ - وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ لِمَوْتِ بَشَرٍ - فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ شَيْئًا مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَصَلُّوا حَتَّى تَنْجَلِيَ مَا مِنْ شَىْءٍ تُوعَدُونَهُ إِلاَّ قَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ فِي صَلاَتِي هَذِهِ لَقَدْ جِيءَ بِالنَّارِ وَذَلِكُمْ حِينَ رَأَيْتُمُونِي تَأَخَّرْتُ مَخَافَةَ أَنْ يُصِيبَنِي مِنْ لَفْحِهَا وَحَتَّى رَأَيْتُ فِيهَا صَاحِبَ الْمِحْجَنِ يَجُرُّ قُصْبَهُ فِي النَّارِ كَانَ يَسْرِقُ الْحَاجَّ بِمِحْجَنِهِ فَإِنْ فُطِنَ لَهُ قَالَ إِنَّمَا تَعَلَّقَ بِمِحْجَنِي . وَإِنْ غُفِلَ عَنْهُ ذَهَبَ بِهِ وَحَتَّى رَأَيْتُ فِيهَا صَاحِبَةَ الْهِرَّةِ الَّتِي رَبَطَتْهَا فَلَمْ تُطْعِمْهَا وَلَمْ تَدَعْهَا تَأْكُلُ مِنْ خَشَاشِ الأَرْضِ حَتَّى مَاتَتْ جُوعًا ثُمَّ جِيءَ بِالْجَنَّةِ وَذَلِكُمْ حِينَ رَأَيْتُمُونِي تَقَدَّمْتُ حَتَّى قُمْتُ فِي مَقَامِي وَلَقَدْ مَدَدْتُ يَدِي وَأَنَا أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَتَنَاوَلَ مِنْ ثَمَرِهَا لِتَنْظُرُوا إِلَيْهِ ثُمَّ بَدَا لِي أَنْ لاَ أَفْعَلَ فَمَا مِنْ شَىْءٍ تُوعَدُونَهُ إِلاَّ قَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ فِي صَلاَتِي هَذِهِ " .
