Chapter: The virtue of offering the funeral prayer and following the bier

باب فَضْلِ الصَّلاَةِ عَلَى الْجَنَازَةِ وَاتِّبَاعِهَا
Sahih Muslim 945b
This Hadith has been narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira (رضي الله تعالى عنه) through another chain of narrators up to these words, ‘two great mountains’. No mention is made of what followed (these words); and in the Hadith transmitted by 'Abdul A'la (the words are), ‘till (the burial) is complete’. In the Hadith transmitted by 'Abdur Razzaq (the words are), ‘till he is placed in the grave’.
یہی روایت مصنف اپنے چار اور اساتذہ سے دو بڑے پہاڑوں تک بیان کرتے ہیں، اس کے بعد کا حصہ بیان نہیں کرتے، عبدالاعلیٰ کی روایت ”حَتَّى تُدْفَنَ“ میں کی جگہ ”حتى يفرغ“ تھا حتیٰ کہ اس سے فارغ ہوا جائے اور عبدالرزاق کی حدیث میں ”حتي توضع في اللحد“ ہے یعنی ”حتیٰ کہ لحد میں اُتار یا رکھ دیا جائے۔“
Yahi riwayat musannif apne chaar aur asatiza se do bare paharon tak bayan karte hain, is ke baad ka hissa bayan nahi karte, Abdula'la ki riwayat 'hatta tudfana' mein ki jagah 'hatta yufragha' tha hatta ke is se farigh hua jaye aur Abdur Razzaq ki hadees mein 'hatta tuza'a fil lahd' hai yaani 'hatta ke lahd mein utar ya rakh diya jaye'.
حَدَّثَنَاهُ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الأَعْلَى، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ رَافِعٍ، وَعَبْدُ، بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ، كِلاَهُمَا عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ، عَنْ أَبِي، هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِلَى قَوْلِهِ الْجَبَلَيْنِ الْعَظِيمَيْنِ . وَلَمْ يَذْكُرَا مَا بَعْدَهُ وَفِي حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى حَتَّى يُفْرَغَ مِنْهَا وَفِي حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ حَتَّى تُوضَعَ فِي اللَّحْدِ .
