Sahih Muslim 96b
It is narrated on the authority of Usama bin Zaid (رضي الله تعالى عنه) : The Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) sent us to Huraqat, a tribe of Juhaina. We attacked that tribe early in the morning and defeated them and I and a man from the Ansar caught hold of a person (of the defeated tribe). When we overcame him, he said ُ َّالَ إِلَهَ إِالَّ َّللا [There is no god but Allah]. At that moment the Ansari spared him, but I attacked him with my spear and killed him. The news reached the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) so when we came back he (the Apostle ﷺ) said to me : Usama (رضي الله تعالى عنه), did you kill him after he had made the profession ُ َّالَ إِلَهَ إِالَّ َّللا [There is no god but Allah]? I said, Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), he did it only as a shelter. The Prophet ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) observed: Did you kill him after he had made the profession َّالَ إِلَهَ إِال ُ َّ َّللا [ There is no god but Allah]? He (the Prophet ﷺ) went on repeating this to me till I wished I had not embraced Islam before that day.
حضرت اسامہ بن زید ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہمیں جہینہ کی شاخ حرقہ کی طرف بھیجا، تو ہم نے ان لوگوں پر صبح صبح حملہ کردیا اور ان کو شکست دے دی۔ میں اور ایک انصاری آدمی نے ان کے ایک آدمی کا تعاقب کیا، جب ہم نے اس کو گھیرے میں لے لیا (وہ حملہ کی زد میں آ گیا) اس نے لاالٰہ الااللہ کہہ دیا، انصاری اس سے رک گیا، میں نے اپنا نیزہ مار کر اس کو قتل کر دیا۔ اسامہ ؓ کا بیان ہے کہ جب ہم واپس آئے تو اس کی اطلاع رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو بھی ہو گئی (جو خود اسامہ ؓ نے دی تھی) تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مجھےفرمایا: ”اے اسامہ! کیا تو نے لا الٰہ الااللہ کہنے کے بعد قتل کردیا؟“ میں نے عرض کیا: اے اللہ کے رسولؐ! اس نے تو محض پناہ حاصل کرنے کے لیے ایسا کہا تھا، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے پھر فرمایا: ”کیا تو نے اسے لاالٰہ الااللہ کہنے کے بعد قتل کر دیا؟“ پھر آپ بار بار یہ بات دہراتے رہے یہاں تک کہ میں نے آرزو کی اے کاش! میں آج سے پہلے مسلمان نہ ہوتا۔ (آج مسلمان ہوتا تا کہ تمام پچھلے گناہ معاف ہو جاتے)۔
Hazrat Usama bin Zaid (Radhi Allahu Anhu) bayan karte hain ke Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ne humein Juhaina ki shakh Hurqa ki taraf bheja, to hum ne in logon par subah subah hamla kardiya aur in ko shikast de di. Main aur ek Ansari aadmi ne in ke ek aadmi ka ta'aqub kiya, jab hum ne is ko ghere mein le liya (woh hamla ki zadd mein aa gaya) is ne LA ILAHA ILLALLAH keh diya, Ansari is se ruk gaya, main ne apna neza maar kar is ko qatl kar diya. Usama (Radhi Allahu Anhu) ka bayan hai ke jab hum wapas aaye to is ki ittela Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ko bhi ho gayi (jo khud Usama (Radhi Allahu Anhu) ne di thi) to Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ne mujhe farmaya: "Ae Usama! kya tu ne LA ILAHA ILLALLAH kehne ke baad qatl kardiya?" Main ne arz kiya: ae Allah ke Rasool (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)! is ne to mahz panah hasil karne ke liye aisa kaha tha, to Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ne phir farmaya: "Kya tu ne ise LA ILAHA ILLALLAH kehne ke baad qatl kar diya?" Phir Aap bar bar yeh baat dohrayte rahe yahan tak ke main ne aarzu ki ae kash! main aaj se pehle Musalman na hota. (Aaj Musalman hota ta ke tamam pichle gunah maaf ho jaate).
حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا حُصَيْنٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو ظِبْيَانَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أُسَامَةَ بْنَ زَيْدِ بْنِ حَارِثَةَ، يُحَدِّثُ قَالَ بَعَثَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِلَى الْحُرَقَةِ مِنْ جُهَيْنَةَ فَصَبَّحْنَا الْقَوْمَ فَهَزَمْنَاهُمْ وَلَحِقْتُ أَنَا وَرَجُلٌ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ رَجُلاً مِنْهُمْ فَلَمَّا غَشَيْنَاهُ قَالَ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ . فَكَفَّ عَنْهُ الأَنْصَارِيُّ وَطَعَنْتُهُ بِرُمْحِي حَتَّى قَتَلْتُهُ . قَالَ فَلَمَّا قَدِمْنَا بَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ لِي " يَا أُسَامَةُ أَقَتَلْتَهُ بَعْدَ مَا قَالَ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ " . قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّمَا كَانَ مُتَعَوِّذًا . قَالَ فَقَالَ " أَقَتَلْتَهُ بَعْدَ مَا قَالَ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ " . قَالَ فَمَازَالَ يُكَرِّرُهَا عَلَىَّ حَتَّى تَمَنَّيْتُ أَنِّي لَمْ أَكُنْ أَسْلَمْتُ قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ .
