Mustadrak Al Hakim 208
Tariq bin Shihab narrates that when Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) reached Syria and met with the chiefs of the army there, he was wearing socks and a turban and had a sheet wrapped around him. He was holding the reins of his camel and crossing a lake when someone said to him, "O Chief! You are meeting with the generals of the Syrian army, and it is not appropriate for your honor and dignity to meet in this condition." Upon this, Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Allah Almighty has granted us honor through Islam, so we cannot leave it and seek honor through any other means."
طارق بن شہاب روایت کرتے ہیں کہ جب حضرت عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ ملک شام پہنچے اور وہاں کی افواج کے سربراہوں سے ملاقات کی ، اس وقت آپ موزے ، عمامہ پہنے ہوئے تھے اور ایک چادر اوڑھی ہوئی تھی ۔ اپنی اونٹنی کی مہار پکڑے جھیل سے گزر رہے تھے ، کسی نے آپ سے عرض کی : حضور ! آپ شام کی افواج کے جرنیلوں سے ملاقات کر رہے ہیں اور اس حالت میں ملاقات کرنا آپ کی عزت و شان کے مطابق نہیں ہے ، اس پر حضرت عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ نے فرمایا : اللہ تعالیٰ نے ہمیں اسلام کی بدولت عزت عطا فرمائی ہے ، اس لیے ہم اسے چھوڑ کر کسی دوسرے ذریعہ سے عزت نہیں پا سکتے ۔
Tareek bin Shahab riwayat karte hain keh jab Hazrat Umar bin Khattab (رضي الله تعالى عنه) mulk Sham pahunche aur wahan ki afwaj ke sarbrahon se mulaqat ki, us waqt aap moze, amama pehne hue the aur ek chadar odhi hui thi. Apni untni ki mahar pakre jheel se guzar rahe the, kisi ne aap se arz ki: Huzoor! Aap Sham ki afwaj ke jarnelon se mulaqat kar rahe hain aur is halat mein mulaqat karna aap ki izzat o shan ke mutabiq nahin hai, is par Hazrat Umar bin Khattab (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne farmaya: Allah Ta'ala ne hamein Islam ki badolat izzat ata farmaai hai, is liye hum ise chhor kar kisi doosre zariye se izzat nahin pa sakte.
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَمْشَاذَ الْعَدْلُ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى بْنِ السَّكَنِ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَوْنٍ، ثنا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، ثنا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ طَارِقِ بْنِ شِهَابٍ، قَالَ: لَمَّا قَدِمَ عُمَرُ الشَّامَ لَقِيَهُ الْجُنُودُ وَعَلَيْهِ إِزَارٌ وَخُفَّانِ وَعِمَامَةٌ وَهُوَ آخِذٌ بِرَأْسِ بَعِيرِهِ يَخُوضُ الْمَاءَ، فَقَالَ لَهُ - يَعْنِي قَائِلٌ - يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ تَلْقَاكَ الْجُنُودُ وَبَطَارِقَةُ الشَّامِ وَأَنْتَ عَلَى حَالِكَ هَذَا؟ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: «إِنَّا قَوْمٌ أَعَزَّنَا اللَّهُ بِالْإِسْلَامِ، فَلَنْ نَبْتَغِيَ الْعِزَّةَ بِغَيْرِهِ» [التعليق - من تلخيص الذهبي] 208 - سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص
