Mention of the avoidance of combat by Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him)
تذكرة تجنب حضرة سعد بن أبي وقاص رضي الله عنه القتال
Mustadrak Al Hakim 4606
Hassan (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Talha and Zubair (may Allah be pleased with them) came to Basra. The people asked them the reason for their coming. They said: We want retribution for Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him). Hassan (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Wow! Glory be to Allah, the wise men of this nation say, by God! You yourselves are the murderers of Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him). Then, when Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Kufa, the responsible people there said: We cannot make you our caliph.
حضرت حسن رضی اللہ عنہ فرماتے ہیں : حضرت طلحہ اور حضرت زبیر رضی اللہ عنہما بصرہ میں آئے ، لوگوں نے ان سے آنے کی وجہ پوچھی تو انہوں نے کہا : ہم حضرت عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ کا قصاص چاہتے ہیں ۔ حضرت حسن رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا : واہ ! سبحان اللہ ، اس قوم کے عقلمند لوگ تو کہتے ہیں کہ خدا کی قسم ! حضرت عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ کے قاتل تو خود تم ہو ، پھر جب حضرت علی رضی اللہ عنہ کوفہ تشریف لائے تو وہاں کے ذمہ دار لوگوں نے کہا : ہم آپ کو اپنا کفیل نہیں بنا سکتے ۔
Hazrat Hassan Raziallahu Anhu farmate hain : Hazrat Talha aur Hazrat Zubair Raziallahu Anhuma Basra mein aye , logon ne un se aane ki waja poochhi to unhon ne kaha : hum Hazrat Usman Raziallahu Anhu ka qisas chahte hain . Hazrat Hassan Raziallahu Anhu ne kaha : Waah ! Subhan Allah , is qaum ke aqalmand log to kahte hain ki Khuda ki qasam ! Hazrat Usman Raziallahu Anhu ke qatil to khud tum ho , phir jab Hazrat Ali Raziallahu Anhu Kufa tashreef laye to wahan ke zimma daar logon ne kaha : hum aap ko apna kafeel nahin bana sakte .
فَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْفَقِيهُ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ حَمْشَاذٍ، قَالَا: ثنا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثنا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، ثنا أَبُو مُوسَى يَعْنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ بْنَ مُوسَى قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الْحَسَنَ يَقُولُ: "" جَاءَ طَلْحَةُ وَالزُّبَيْرُ إِلَى الْبَصْرَةِ فَقَالَ لَهُمُ النَّاسُ: مَا جَاءَكُمْ؟ قَالُوا: نَطْلُبُ دَمَ عُثْمَانَ قَالَ الْحَسَنُ: أَيَا سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ، أَفَمَا كَانَ لِلْقَوْمِ عُقُولٌ فَيَقُولُونَ: وَاللَّهِ مَا قَتَلَ عُثْمَانَ غَيْرُكُمْ؟ قَالَ: فَلَمَّا جَاءَ عَلِيٌّ إِلَى الْكُوفَةِ، وَمَا كَانَ لِلْقَوْمِ عُقُولٌ فَيَقُولُونَ: أَيُّهَا الرَّجُلُ إِنَّا وَاللَّهِ مَا ضَمَنَّاكَ "" [التعليق - من تلخيص الذهبي] 4606 - سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص
