Chapter: Not saying "In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful" Aloud

باب تَرْكِ الْجَهْرِ بِـ ‏{‏ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ ‏}‏

Sunan an-Nasa'i 906

Anas bin Malik (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) led us in prayer, and we did not hear him recite, ‘In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful’. And Abu Bakr and Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنهما) led us in prayer and we did not hear it from them either’.

انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے ہمیں نماز پڑھائی، تو آپ نے ہمیں «بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحيم» کی قرآت نہیں سنائی، اور ہمیں ابوبکر و عمر رضی اللہ عنہم نے بھی نماز پڑھائی، تو ہم نے ان دونوں سے بھی اسے نہیں سنا ۔

Anas bin Malik (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne hamen namaz padhai, to aap ne hamen «Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim» ki qirat nahin sunai, aur hamen Abu Bakr wa Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne bhi namaz padhai, to hum ne in dono se bhi ise nahin suna 1؎.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يَقُولُ، أَنْبَأَنَا أَبُو حَمْزَةَ، عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ زَاذَانَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَلَمْ يُسْمِعْنَا قِرَاءَةَ ‏{‏ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ ‏}‏ وَصَلَّى بِنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ فَلَمْ نَسْمَعْهَا مِنْهُمَا ‏.‏

Sunan an-Nasa'i 907

Anas (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that he prayed behind the Apostle of Allah sﷺ), Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman (رضي الله تعالى عنهم), and I did not hear any of them say out loud, ‘In the Name of Allah, The Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful’.

انس رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ، ابوبکر، عمر اور عثمان رضی اللہ عنہم کے پیچھے نماز پڑھی لیکن میں نے ان میں سے کسی ایک کو بھی«بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحيم» زور سے پڑھتے نہیں سنا۔

Ins (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke main ne Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), Abu Bakr, Umar aur Usman (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ke peeche namaz parhi lekin main ne in mein se kisi ek ko bhi «Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim» zor se parhte nahin suna.

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عُقْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، وَابْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ وَعُثْمَانَ - رضى الله عنهم - فَلَمْ أَسْمَعْ أَحَدًا مِنْهُمْ يَجْهَرُ بِـ ‏{‏ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ ‏}‏ ‏.‏

Sunan an-Nasa'i 908

Ibn Abdullah bin Mughaffal narrated that if Abdullah bin Mughaffal (رضي الله تعالى عنه) heard any one of us recite, 'In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful', he would say, 'I prayed behind the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and Abu Bakr and Umar ( رضئ هللاتعالی عنہما) and I did not hear any of them recite, ‘In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionatae, the Most Merciful’.


Grade: Da'if

عبداللہ بن مغفل کے بیٹے کہتے ہیں کہ عبداللہ بن مغفل رضی اللہ عنہ جب ہم میں سے کسی سے «‏بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحيم» پڑھتے ہوئے سنتے تو کہتے: میں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کے پیچھے نماز پڑھی، ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ کے پیچھے نماز پڑھی، اور عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کے پیچھے بھی نماز پڑھی لیکن میں نے ان میں سے کسی کو بھی «‏بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحيم» پڑھتے نہیں سنا ۔

Abdul-Allah bin Mughaffal ke bete kehte hain ke Abdul-Allah bin Mughaffal (رضي الله تعالى عنه)u jab hum mein se kisi se «Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim» padhte hue sunte to kehte: main ne Rasool-Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke pichhe namaz padhi, Abu Bakr (رضي الله تعالى عنه)u ke pichhe namaz padhi, aur Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه)u ke pichhe bhi namaz padhi lekin main ne in mein se kisi ko bhi «Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim» padhte nahin suna 1؎.

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو نُعَامَةَ الْحَنَفِيُّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُغَفَّلٍ، قَالَ كَانَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُغَفَّلٍ إِذَا سَمِعَ أَحَدَنَا، يَقْرَأُ ‏{‏ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ ‏}‏ يَقُولُ صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَخَلْفَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَخَلْفَ عُمَرَ رضى الله عنهما فَمَا سَمِعْتُ أَحَدًا مِنْهُمْ قَرَأَ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ ‏.‏
