Abu Qatadah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that he was with Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) when they were on the way to Makkah. He lagged behind with some companions of his who were in Ihram, but he was not in Ihram. He saw an onager, so he mounted his horse, then he asked his companions to hand him his whip, but they refused. He asked them to hand him his spear, but they refused. He took it himself, then chased the onager and killed it. Some of the Companions of the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ate from it but others refused. They caught up with the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and asked him about that. He said, that is food that Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, gave to you.’

ابوقتادہ رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ وہ ( حج کے موقع پر ) رسول اللہ ﷺ کے ساتھ تھے یہاں تک کہ وہ مکہ کے راستہ میں احرام باندھے ہوئے اپنے کچھ ساتھیوں کے ساتھ پیچھے رہ گئے، اور وہ خود محرم نہیں تھے ( وہاں ) انہوں نے ایک نیل گائے دیکھی، تو وہ اپنے گھوڑے پر جم کر بیٹھ گئے، پھر انہوں نے اپنے ساتھیوں سے درخواست کی وہ انہیں ان کا کوڑا دے دیں، تو ان لوگوں نے انکار کیا تو انہوں نے خود ہی لے لیا، پھر تیزی سے اس پر جھپٹے، اور اسے مار گرایا، تو اس میں سے نبی اکرم ﷺ کے بعض اصحاب نے کھایا، اور بعض نے کھانے سے انکار کیا۔ پھر ان لوگوں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کو پا لیا تو آپ سے اس بارے میں سوال کیا تو آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”یہ تو ایسی غذا ہے جسے اللہ عزوجل نے تمہیں کھلایا ہے“۔
Ab waqt tak daa Raz-i-Allah anhu se riwayat hai ke woh (Haj ke mauqe par) Rasul-Allah Sall-Allah-u-alaihi wa sallam ke sath the yahaan tak ke woh Makkah ke raste mein Ehram bandhe hue apne kuchh sathiyon ke sath pichhe reh gaye aur woh khud Mohram nahin the (wahaan) unhon ne ek Neil gayi dekhi to woh apne ghode par jum kar beth gaye phir unhon ne apne sathiyon se darkhwast ki woh unhein unka koda de dein to un logon ne inkar kiya to unhon ne khud hi le liya phir tezi se is par jhapte aur isse mar gaya to is mein se Nabi-e-Akram Sall-Allah-u-alaihi wa sallam ke baaz Ashab ne khaya aur baaz ne khane se inkar kiya phir un logon ne Rasul-Allah Sall-Allah-u-alaihi wa sallam ko pa liya to aap se is bare mein sawal kiya to aap Sall-Allah-u-alaihi wa sallam ne farmaya: ”Yeh to aisi ghaza hai jise Allah Azzawajal ne tumhen khillaya hai“.
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ أَبِي النَّضْرِ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، مَوْلَى أَبِي قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ بِبَعْضِ طَرِيقِ مَكَّةَ تَخَلَّفَ مَعَ أَصْحَابٍ لَهُ مُحْرِمِينَ وَهُوَ غَيْرُ مُحْرِمٍ وَرَأَى حِمَارًا وَحْشِيًّا فَاسْتَوَى عَلَى فَرَسِهِ ثُمَّ سَأَلَ أَصْحَابَهُ أَنْ يُنَاوِلُوهُ سَوْطَهُ فَأَبَوْا فَسَأَلَهُمْ رُمْحَهُ فَأَبَوْا فَأَخَذَهُ ثُمَّ شَدَّ عَلَى الْحِمَارِ فَقَتَلَهُ فَأَكَلَ مِنْهُ بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَأَبَى بَعْضُهُمْ فَأَدْرَكُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَسَأَلُوهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ " إِنَّمَا هِيَ طُعْمَةٌ أَطْعَمَكُمُوهَا اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " .
