Chapter: Whoever Catches Two Rak'ahs Of 'Asr Prayer

باب مَنْ أَدْرَكَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ مِنَ الْعَصْرِ ‏.‏

Sunan an-Nasa'i 514

It was narrated from Jabir bin 'Abdullah ( رضي الله تعالى عنه) that Jibril (عليه السالم) came to the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) to teach him the times of prayer. Jibril (عليه السالم) went forward, with the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) behind him and the people behind the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), and he prayed Zuhr when the sun had passed its zenith. Then he came to him when the shadow of a person was equal to his height, and did as he had done before; Jibril (عليه السالم) went forward, with the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) behind him and the people behind the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), and he prayed 'Asr. Then Jibril (عليه السالم) came to him when the sun had set; Jibril (عليه السالم) went forward, with the Apostle of Allah (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) behind him and the people behind the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), and he prayed Fajr. Then he came to him on the second day when a man's shadow was equal to his height, and did as he had done the day before, he prayed Zuhr. Then he came to him when the shadow of a man was twice his height, and did what he had done the day before, and prayed 'Asr. Then he came to him when the sun had set and did what he had done the day before, and prayed Maghrib. Then we slept and got up, and slept and got up again. Then he came to him and did what he had done the day before and prayed 'Isha.' The he came to him when the (the light of) dawn was spread (on the horizon) and the starts were still clear in the sky, and he did the same as he had done the day before, and prayed Fajr. Then he said: ' The time between these two is the time for prayer.'"

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ نبی اکرم ﷺ نے فرمایا:  جس نے سورج ڈوبنے سے پہلے عصر کی دو رکعت ۲؎ یا سورج نکلنے سے پہلے فجر کی ایک رکعت پالی تو اس نے  ( نماز کا وقت )  پا لیا ۳؎۔

Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke Nabi-e-Akram (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: Jis ne sooraj dubne se pehle asr ki do rakat ya sooraj nikalne se pehle fajr ki ek rakat pali to us ne (namaz ka waqt) pa lia.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مَعْمَرًا، عَنِ ابْنِ طَاوُسٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، - رضى الله عنه - عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏"‏ مَنْ أَدْرَكَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ مِنْ صَلاَةِ الْعَصْرِ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَغْرُبَ الشَّمْسُ أَوْ رَكْعَةً مِنْ صَلاَةِ الصُّبْحِ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ فَقَدْ أَدْرَكَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Sunan an-Nasa'i 515

It was narrated from Abu Huraira (رضي الله تعالى عنه) that the Prophet ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said : "Whoever catches up with two Rak'a of 'Asr prayer before the sun sets, or one Rak'a of the Subh prayer before the sun rises, has caught it."


Grade: Sahih

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ نبی اکرم ﷺ نے فرمایا:  جس نے سورج ڈوبنے سے پہلے عصر کی ایک رکعت پالی یا سورج نکلنے سے پہلے فجر کی ایک رکعت پالی اس نے  ( پوری نماز )  پالی ۔

Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke Nabi-e-Akram (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: Jis ne suraj dubne se pehle asr ki ek rakat pali ya suraj nikalne se pehle fajr ki ek rakat pali us ne (puri namaz) pali.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مَعْمَرًا، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏"‏ مَنْ أَدْرَكَ رَكْعَةً مِنْ صَلاَةِ الْعَصْرِ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَغِيبَ الشَّمْسُ أَوْ أَدْرَكَ رَكْعَةً مِنَ الْفَجْرِ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ فَقَدْ أَدْرَكَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Sunan an-Nasa'i 516

It was narrated from Abu Huraira (رضي الله تعالى عنه) that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said: "Whoever catches up with one Rak'a of 'Asr prayer before the sun sets, or catches up with one Rak'a of Fajr before the sun rises, has caught it (full)."


Grade: Sahih

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ نبی اکرم ﷺ نے فرمایا:  سورج ڈوبنے سے پہلے جب تم میں سے کوئی نماز عصر کا پہلا سجدہ پا لے تو اپنی نماز مکمل کر لے، اور جب سورج نکلنے سے پہلے نماز فجر کا پہلا سجدہ پا لے تو اپنی نماز مکمل کر لے ۔

Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke Nabi-e-Akram (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: Sooraj dubne se pehle jab tum mein se koi namaz Asr ka pehla sajda pa le to apni namaz mukammal kar le, aur jab Sooraj nikalne se pehle namaz Fajr ka pehla sajda pa le to apni namaz mukammal kar le.

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ دُكَيْنٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ، عَنْ يَحْيَى، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏"‏ إِذَا أَدْرَكَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَوَّلَ سَجْدَةٍ مِنْ صَلاَةِ الْعَصْرِ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَغْرُبَ الشَّمْسُ فَلْيُتِمَّ صَلاَتَهُ وَإِذَا أَدْرَكَ أَوَّلَ سَجْدَةٍ مِنْ صَلاَةِ الصُّبْحِ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ فَلْيُتِمَّ صَلاَتَهُ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Sunan an-Nasa'i 517

It was narrated from Abu Huraira (رضي الله تعالى عنه) that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said: "If any one of you catches the first prostration of 'Asr prayer before the sun sets, let him complete his prayer, and if he catches up with the first prostration of Fajr prayer before the sub rises, let him complete his prayer."


Grade: Sahih

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا:  جس نے سورج نکلنے سے پہلے فجر کی ایک رکعت پالی تو اس نے فجر پالی، اور جس نے سورج ڈوبنے سے پہلے عصر کی ایک رکعت پالی تو اس نے عصر پالی ۔

Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se riwayat hai ke Rasoolullah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: Jis ne suraj nikalne se pehle Fajr ki ek rakat pali to us ne Fajr pali, aur jis ne suraj dubne se pehle Asr ki ek rakat pali to us ne Asr pali.

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، وَعَنْ بُسْرِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، وَعَنِ الأَعْرَجِ، يُحَدِّثُونَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏"‏ مَنْ أَدْرَكَ رَكْعَةً مِنْ صَلاَةِ الصُّبْحِ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ فَقَدْ أَدْرَكَ الصُّبْحَ وَمَنْ أَدْرَكَ رَكْعَةً مِنَ الْعَصْرِ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَغْرُبَ الشَّمْسُ فَقَدْ أَدْرَكَ الْعَصْرَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Sunan an-Nasa'i 518

It was narrated from Abu Huraira (رضي الله تعالى عنه) that the Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said: "Whoever catches up with a Rak'a of the Subh prayer before the sun rises, then he has caught up with Subh, and whoever catches up with a Rak'a of 'Asr prayer before the sun sets, then he has caught up with 'Asr."


Grade: Da'if

معاذ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ انہوں نے معاذ بن عفراء رضی اللہ عنہ کے ساتھ طواف کیا، تو انہوں نے نماز  ( طواف کی دو رکعت )  نہیں پڑھی، تو میں نے پوچھا: کیا آپ نماز نہیں پڑھیں گے؟ تو انہوں نے کہا کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا ہے:  عصر کے بعد کوئی نماز نہیں ۱؎ یہاں تک کہ سورج ڈوب جائے، اور فجر کے بعد کوئی نماز نہیں یہاں تک سورج نکل آئے ۔

Mu'az (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke unhon ne Mu'az bin 'Afara (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ke sath tawaf kiya, to unhon ne namaz ( tawaf ki do rakat ) nahin padhi, to main ne poocha: kya aap namaz nahin padhenge? To unhon ne kaha ke Rasoolullah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya hai: 'Asr ke baad koi namaz nahin 1 yahaan tak ke sooraj dub jaaye, aur fajr ke baad koi namaz nahin yahaan tak sooraj nikal aaye.

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ نَصْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، مُعَاذٍ أَنَّهُ طَافَ مَعَ مُعَاذِ ابْنِ عَفْرَاءَ فَلَمْ يُصَلِّ فَقُلْتُ أَلاَ تُصَلِّي فَقَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏"‏ لاَ صَلاَةَ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ حَتَّى تَغِيبَ الشَّمْسُ وَلاَ بَعْدَ الصُّبْحِ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ ‏"‏ ‏.‏
