Kathir bin Qarawanda said: "We asked Salim bin 'Abdullah about prayer while traveling. We said : 'Did 'Abdullah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) combine any of his prayer while traveling?' He said: 'No, except at Jam' (Muzdalifa). Then he paused, and said : 'Safiyya (رضي الله تعالى عنها) was married to him, and she sent a word to him that she was in her last day in this world and the first day in the Hereafter (death bed). So he ride off in a hurry, and I was with him. The time for prayer came and the Mu'adhdhin said to him: 'The prayer, O Abu 'Abdur-Rahman (رضي الله تعالى عنه)! But he kept going until it was between the time for the two prayer. Then he stopped and said to the Mu'adhdhin: "Say the Iqamah, and when I say the Taslim at the end of Zuhr, say the Iqamah (again) straight away." So he said the Iqamah and he prayed Zuhr, two Rak'a, then he said the Iqamah (again) straight away, and he prayed 'Asr, two Rak'a. Then he rode off quickly until the sun set and the Mu'adhdhin said to him: "The prayer, O Abu 'Abdur-Rahman ( رضي الله تعالى عنه)!" He said: "Do what you did before." He rode on until the stars appeared, then he stopped and said: "Say the Iqamah, then when I say the Taslim, say the Iqamah. So he said the Iqamah and he prayed Maghrib, three Rak'a, then he said the Iqamah (again) straight away and he prayed 'Isha', then he said one Taslim, turning his face. Then he said : "The Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said: 'If any one of you has urgent need that he fears he may miss, let him pray like this.'"

کثیر بن قاروندا کہتے ہیں کہ ہم نے سالم بن عبداللہ سے سفر کی نماز کے بارے میں پوچھا، ہم نے کہا: کیا عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہم سفر میں جمع بین الصلاتین کرتے تھے؟ تو انہوں نے کہا: نہیں، سوائے مزدلفہ کے، پھر چونکے اور کہنے لگے: ان کے نکاح میں صفیہ تھیں، انہوں نے انہیں کہلوا بھیجا کہ میں دنیا کے آخری اور آخرت کے پہلے دن میں ہوں ۱؎ ( اس لیے آپ آ کر آخری ملاقات کر لیجئے ) ، تو وہ سوار ہوئے، اور میں اس ان کے ساتھ تھا، وہ تیز رفتاری سے چلتے رہے یہاں تک کہ نماز کا وقت آ گیا، تو ان سے مؤذن نے کہا: ابوعبدالرحمٰن! نماز پڑھ لیجئے، لیکن وہ چلتے رہے یہاں تک کہ دونوں نمازوں کا درمیانی وقت آ گیا، تو اترے اور مؤذن سے کہا: اقامت کہو، اور جب میں ظہر پڑھ لوں تو اپنی جگہ پر ( دوبارہ ) اقامت کہنا، چنانچہ اس نے اقامت کہی، تو انہوں نے ظہر کی دو رکعت پڑھائی، پھر سلام پھیرا، پھر تو ( مؤذن نے ) اپنی اسی جگہ پر پھر اقامت کہی، تو انہوں نے عصر کی دو رکعت پڑھائی، پھر سوار ہوئے اور تیزی سے چلتے رہے یہاں تک کہ سورج ڈوب گیا، تو مؤذن نے ان سے کہا: ابوعبدالرحمٰن نماز پڑھ لیجئے، تو انہوں نے کہا جیسے پہلے کیا تھا، اسی طرح کرو اور تیزی سے چلتے رہے یہاں تک کہ جب ستارے گھنے ہو گئے تو اترے، اور کہنے لگے: اقامت کہو، اور جب سلام پھیر چکوں تو دوبارہ اقامت کہنا، پھر انہوں نے مغرب کی تین رکعت پڑھائی، پھر اپنی اسی جگہ پر اس نے پھر تکبیر کہی تو انہوں نے عشاء پڑھائی، اور اپنے چہرہ کے سامنے ایک ہی سلام پھیرا، اور کہنے لگے: رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: جب تم میں سے کسی کو کوئی ایسا معاملہ درپیش ہو جس کے فوت ہونے کا اندیشہ ہو تو اسی طرح نماز پڑھے ۔
Kasir bin Qaroonda kehte hain ke hum ne Salim bin Abdullah se safar ki namaz ke bare mein poocha, hum ne kaha: kya Abdullah bin Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) safar mein jama bain al-salatain karte the? To unhone kaha: nahin, siwae Mazdalifah ke, phir chaunke aur kahne lage: in ke nikah mein Safiyah thi, unhone unhein kahla bhija ke main dunya ke aakhiri aur aakhirat ke pahle din mein hoon (is liye aap aa kar aakhiri mulaqat kar lijye), to woh sawar huye, aur main is un ke sath tha, woh tez raftaari se chalte rahe yahaan tak ke namaz ka waqt aa gaya, to un se muezzin ne kaha: Abu Abdul Rahman! namaz padh lijye, lekin woh chalte rahe yahaan tak ke dono namazon ka darmiyani waqt aa gaya, to utre aur muezzin se kaha: iqamat kaho, aur jab mein zuhr padh loon to apni jagah par (dobaara) iqamat kahna, chanancha is ne iqamat kahi, to unhone zuhr ki do rakat padhai, phir salam pheyra, phir to (mu'azzin ne) apni isi jagah par phir iqamat kahi, to unhone asr ki do rakat padhai, phir sawar huye aur tezi se chalte rahe yahaan tak ke sooraj dub gaya, to muezzin ne un se kaha: Abu Abdul Rahman namaz padh lijye, to unhone kaha jaise pehle kiya tha, isi tarah karo aur tezi se chalte rahe yahaan tak ke jab sitare ghaney ho gaye to utre, aur kahne lage: iqamat kaho, aur jab salam phir chukoon to dobara iqamat kahna, phir unhone maghrib ki teen rakat padhai, phir apni isi jagah par is ne phir takbir kahi to unhone isha padhai, aur apne chehre ke samne ek hi salam pheyra, aur kahne lage: Rasool Allah salla-llahu alayhi wa sallam ne farmaya: jab tum mein se kisi ko koi aisa mamla darpesh ho jis ke foot hone ka andesha ho to isi tarah namaz padhe.
