Hazrat Amr bin Abu Sufyan narrates that a thief was brought to Hazrat Ibn Zubair so you (Hazrat Ibn Zubair) cut off his hand. Upon this Hazrat Ubaidullah bin Uthman said to him: Cauterize it (the hand). You said: You are very merciful on him. He said: No but this act is Sunnah.
حضرت عمرو بن ابو سفیان فرماتے ہیں کہ حضرت ابن زبیر کے پاس ایک چور لایا گیا پس آپ نے اس کا ہاتھ کاٹ دیا اس پر حضرت ابان بن عثمان نے ان سے فرمایا : اس کو داغ دو ۔ آپ نے فرمایا : تم تو اس پر بہت رحم کرنے والے ہو۔ آپ نے فرمایا : نہیں لیکن یہ عمل سنت ہے۔
Hazrat Amr bin Abu Sufyan farmate hain keh Hazrat Ibn Zubair ke pas ek chor laya gaya pas aap ne us ka hath kaat diya is par Hazrat Aban bin Usman ne un se farmaya : is ko dagh do . Aap ne farmaya : tum to is par bahut reham karne wale ho. Aap ne farmaya : nahi lekin ye amal sunnat hai.
Hazrat Hajjah narrates that Hazrat Ali used to cut off the hands of thieves and brand them. Then he would imprison them and provide for them for two terms. Then when the wounds healed, he would say, "Raise your hands." So they would raise them as if they were red penises. Then he would say, "Who cut off your hands?" They would reply, "Ali." He would say, "Why did he cut them off?" They would reply, "We committed theft." Then he would say, "O Allah, bear witness! O Allah, bear witness! You are free to go."
حضرت حجیہ فرماتے ہیں کہ حضرت علی چوروں کے ہاتھ کاٹتے اور ان کو داغ دیتے پھر ان کو قید کردیتے اور ان کا دو ادوار کرتے۔ پس جب زخم تندرست ہوجاتا فرماتے، اپنے ہاتھوں کو اٹھاؤ سو وہ ان کو اٹھاتے گویا کہ وہ سرخ عضو تناسل ہوں پھر آپ فرماتے : تمہارے ہاتھ کس نے کاٹے ؟ وہ جواب دیتے : علی نے۔ آپ فرماتے : کیوں کاٹے ؟ وہ جواب دیتے۔ ہم نے چوری کی تھی۔ پس آپ فرماتے اے اللہ : تو گواہ رہ اے اللہ ! تو گواہ رہ، تم چلے جاؤ۔
Hazrat Hajjah farmate hain keh Hazrat Ali choron ke hath katte aur unko daagh dete phir unko qaid karte aur unka do edwar karte. Pas jab zakhm tandarust hojata farmate, apne hathon ko uthao so woh unko uthate goya keh woh surkh uzv tanasul hon phir aap farmate : tumhare hath kisne kate ? Woh jawab dete : Ali ne. Aap farmate : kyun kate ? Woh jawab dete. Hum ne chori ki thi. Pas aap farmate aye Allah : to gawah reh Allah ! To gawah reh, tum chale jao.
