Book of Oaths, Vows, and Expiations
١١-
كِتَابُ الْأَيْمَانِ وَالنُّذُورِ وَالْكَفَّارَاتِ
Who said there is no vow in disobedience to Allah, nor in what one does not possess
مَنْ قَالَ لَا نَذْرَ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللَّهِ، وَلَا فِيمَا لَا يَمْلِكُ
Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 12151
Hazrat Ali (R.A) said: "There are two types of vows: A vow made to Allah should be fulfilled, and a vow made to Satan should not be fulfilled, but you must offer expiation for it."
حضرت علقمہ فرماتے ہیں کہ نذر دو طرح کی ہیں، پس جو نذر اللہ کے لیے ہو اس کو پورا کرو، اور جو نذر شیطان کے لیے ہو اس کو پورا مت کرو، اور تیرے ذمہ اس کا کفارہ ہے۔
Hazrat Alqama farmate hain keh nazr do tarah ki hain, pas jo nazr Allah ke liye ho us ko poora karo, aur jo nazr shaitan ke liye ho us ko poora mat karo, aur tere zimme us ka kaffara hai.
حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ ، وَحَمَّادٌ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ ، قَالَ : « النَّذْرُ نَذْرَانِ ، فَمَا كَانَ لِلَّهِ فَوَفِّ بِهِ ، وَمَا كَانَ فِي مَعْصِيَةٍ ، فَلَا يَفِيهِ ، وَعَلَيْهِ الْكَفَّارَةُ »
