Book of Oaths, Vows, and Expiations
١١-
كِتَابُ الْأَيْمَانِ وَالنُّذُورِ وَالْكَفَّارَاتِ
Who said there is no vow in disobedience to Allah, nor in what one does not possess
مَنْ قَالَ لَا نَذْرَ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللَّهِ، وَلَا فِيمَا لَا يَمْلِكُ

Hazrat Masrooq said that there are two types of vows: one is for Allah and the other is for Satan. So the vow that is for Allah should be fulfilled and there is also expiation in it, and the vow that is for Satan should not be fulfilled and there is no expiation in it.
حضرت مسروق فرماتے ہیں کہ نذر دو طرح کی ہے، ایک نذر اللہ کے لیے ہے اور دوسری نذر شیطان کے لیے ہے، پس جو نذر اللہ کے لیے ہو اس کو پورا کرنا بھی ہے اور اس میں کفارہ بھی ہے، اور جو نذر شیطان کے لیے ہے اس کو پورا کرنا نہیں ہے اور اس میں کفارہ بھی نہیں ہے۔
Hazrat Masrooq farmate hain ke nazr do tarah ki hai, ek nazr Allah ke liye hai aur dusri nazr shaitan ke liye hai, pas jo nazr Allah ke liye ho us ko poora karna bhi hai aur us mein kaffara bhi hai, aur jo nazr shaitan ke liye hai us ko poora karna nahi hai aur us mein kaffara bhi nahi hai.
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ ، قَالَ : « النَّذْرُ نَذْرَانِ ، فَنَذْرُ اللَّهِ ، وَنَذْرُ الشَّيْطَانِ ، فَمَا كَانَ لِلَّهِ فَفِيهِ الْوَفَاءُ وَالْكَفَّارَةُ ، وَمَا كَانَ لِلشَّيْطَانِ فَلَا وَفَاءَ فِيهِ وَلَا كَفَّارَةَ »
