Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 17455

Hazrat Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her) said that during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), women in postpartum bleeding would observe a waiting period of forty days, and we used to apply turmeric on our faces due to the paleness caused by the bleeding.

حضرت ام سلمہ (رض) فرماتی ہیں کہ رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے زمانے میں نفساء چالیس دن تک رکا کرتی تھیں اور ہم اپنے چہروں پر مٹیالی سرخی کی وجہ سے ورس نامی زرد بوٹی لگایا کرتی تھیں۔

Hazrat Umm Salma (RA) farmati hain ke Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ke zamane mein nifas chaalis din tak ruka karti thin aur hum apne chehron per mityali surkhi ki wajah se wars nami zard booti lagaya karti thin.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ زُهَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : نَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى ، عَنْ أَبِي سَهْلٍ ، عَنْ مُسَّةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَتْ : « كَانَتْ النُّفَسَاءُ تَقْعُدُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْمًا ، وَكُنَّا نُلَطِّخُ عَلَى وُجُوهِنَا الْوَرْسَ مِنَ الْكَلَفِ »
