The Words of Umar ibn al-Khattab

Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 34494
It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (R.A.) that he said: When Hazrat Umar (R.A.) was attacked, I went to him and said: O Leader of the Believers! Good news of Paradise for you. When other people disbelieved, you (R.A.) accepted Islam. When other people were trying to disgrace the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), you (R.A.) waged Jihad with him (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed away while he was pleased with you. And in your caliphate, there are no two people who are disputing, and you are dying as a martyr. Hazrat Umar (R.A.) said: Repeat this to me. So when I repeated it to him, you (R.A.) said: By the One besides Whom there is no deity, if I had gold and silver equal to what is on earth, I would have ransomed myself from the horror of the Day of Judgment with it.
حضرت ابن عباس (رض) سے روایت ہے وہ کہتے ہیں کہ جب حضرت عمر (رض) پر حملہ ہوا میں ان کے پاس گیا اور میں نے کہا : اے امیر المومنین ! آپ کو جنت کی بشارت ہو۔ جب دیگر لوگوں نے کفر کیا تب آپ (رض) نے اسلام قبول کیا۔ جب دیگر لوگ جناب رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو رسوا کررہے تھے تب آپ (رض) نے آپ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے ساتھ جہاد کیا۔ اور جناب رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی موت اس حال میں آئی کہ آپ تم سے راضی تھے۔ اور آپ کی خلافت میں کوئی دو آدمی اختلاف کرنے والے نہیں ہیں اور آپ شہید ہو کر مر رہے ہیں۔ حضرت عمر (رض) نے فرمایا : مجھے یہ بات دوبارہ کہو۔ چنانچہ میں نے یہ بات آپ کو دوبارہ کہی تو آپ (رض) نے فرمایا : قسم اس ذات کی جس کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں ہے۔ اگر میرے پاس زمین پر موجود چیزوں کے برابر سونا چاندی ہوتا تو میں اس کے ذریعہ قیامت کی ہول ناکی سے جان چھڑا لیتا۔
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (RA) se riwayat hai woh kehte hain keh jab Hazrat Umar (RA) par hamla hua mein unke pass gaya aur mein ne kaha: Aye Ameer-ul-Momineen! Aap ko Jannat ki basharat ho. Jab degar logon ne kufr kiya tab aap (RA) ne Islam qubool kiya. Jab degar log Janaab Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ko ruswa kar rahe thay tab aap (RA) ne aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ke sath jihad kiya. Aur Janaab Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ki maut iss haal mein aayi keh aap tumse razi thay. Aur aap ki khilafat mein koi do aadmi ikhtilaf karne wale nahin hain aur aap shaheed ho kar mar rahe hain. Hazrat Umar (RA) ne farmaya: Mujhe yeh baat dobara kaho. Chunanche mein ne yeh baat aap ko dobara kahi toh aap (RA) ne farmaya: Qasam iss zaat ki jis ke siwa koi mabood nahin hai. Agar mere pass zameen par mojood cheezon ke barabar sona chandi hota toh mein iss ke zariye qayamat ki holnaki se jaan chura leta.
أَبُو بَكْرٍ قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَالِدٍ الْأَحْمَرُ ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : دَخَلْتُ عَلَى عُمَرَ حِينَ طُعِنَ ، فَقُلْتُ : أَبْشِرْ بِالْجَنَّةِ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ، أَسْلَمْتَ حِينَ كَفَرَ النَّاسُ وَجَاهَدْتَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ حِينَ خَذَلَهُ النَّاسُ ، وَقُبِضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَهُوَ عَنْكَ رَاضٍ ، وَلَمْ يَخْتَلِفْ فِي خِلَافَتِكَ اثْنَانِ ، وَقُتِلْتَ شَهِيدًا ، فَقَالَ : « أَعِدْ عَلَيَّ » ، فَأَعَدْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ : « وَالَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ غَيْرُهُ لَوْ أَنَّ لِي مَا عَلَى الْأَرْضِ مِنْ صَفْرَاءَ وَبَيْضَاءَ لَافْتَدَيْتُ بِهِ مِنْ هَوْلِ الْمَطْلَعِ »
