كِتَابُ الزُّهْدِ
The Words of Ibn Mas'ud
كَلَامُ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ﵁

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Majlaz that he said that the companions of Hazrat Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) were troubled by the cold. The narrator says, so the man began to feel ashamed that he would come in worn-out clothes or a worn-out sheet. Upon this, Hazrat Abu Abdur Rahman came one (day in a) cloak, then the next morning he came in the same, then the third morning he came in the same.
حضرت ابومجلز سے روایت ہے وہ کہتے ہیں کہ حضرت ابن مسعود (رض) کے ساتھیوں کو سردی نے تکلیف پہنچائی۔ راوی کہتے ہیں چنانچہ آدمی اس بات سے حیا کرنے لگا کہ وہ گھٹیا کپڑے یا گھٹیا چادر میں آئے۔ اس پر حضرت ابوعبدالرحمن ایک (دن ایک) چغہ میں آئے پھر اگلی صبح بھی اسی میں آئے پھر تیسری صبح بھی اسی میں آئے۔
Hazrat Abu Majlaz se riwayat hai woh kehte hain keh Hazrat Ibn Masood (RA) ke saathiyon ko sardi ne takleef pahunchai. Rawi kehte hain chunanche aadmi is baat se hiya karne laga keh woh ghatiya kapde ya ghatiya chadar mein aaye. Is par Hazrat Abu Abdur Rahman ek (din ek) chagha mein aaye phir agli subah bhi usi mein aaye phir teesri subah bhi usi mein aaye.
مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ ، عَبَّادِ بْنِ عَبَّادِ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ الْمَازِنِيِّ ، عَنْ ، أَبِي مِجْلَزٍ ، قَالَ : " قَرَصَ أَصْحَابَ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ الْبَرْدُ ، قَالَ : « فَجَعَلَ الرَّجُلُ يَسْتَحْيِي أَنْ يَجِيءَ فِي الثَّوْبِ الدُّونِ أَوِ الْكِسَاءِ الدُّونِ ، فَأَصْبَحَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ فِي عَبَايَةٍ ، ثُمَّ أَصْبَحَ فِيهَا ، ثُمَّ أَصْبَحَ فِي الْيَوْمِ الثَّالِثِ فِيهَا »
