Na'im bin Hazal narrates that Ma'iz bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) was raised under the guardianship of my father. He became involved with a slave girl from the neighborhood. My father advised him to confess his sin in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) so that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) may pray for his forgiveness. His intention was that perhaps there might be a way out for him. So, Ma'iz came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I have committed fornication, so punish me according to the Book of Allah." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ignored him. This happened four times. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked, "You have confessed four times. Tell me with whom did you commit this sin?" Ma'iz said, "With such and such woman." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked, "Did you lie with her?" Ma'iz replied, "Yes!" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked, "Did you have sexual contact with her?" Ma'iz replied, "Yes!" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked, "Did you have intercourse with her?" Ma'iz replied, "Yes!" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) then ordered that he be stoned to death. So, the people took him to "Harra". When Ma'iz was about to be stoned, and the stones hit him, he felt the pain and ran away swiftly. The people were unable to catch him. Suddenly, Abdullah bin Anis met him. He threw a camel bone at him, which hit him and killed him. Then he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and mentioned this incident. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Why didn't you leave him alone? Maybe he would have repented, and Allah would have accepted his repentance." And the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to my father, "O Hazal! By Allah! It would have been better if you had hidden him in your clothes than what you did to him."

نعیم بن ہزال کہتے ہیں کہ حضرت ماعز بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ میرے والد کے زیر سایہ پرورش تھے وہ محلے کی ایک باندی کے ساتھ ملوث ہوگئے میرے والد نے ان سے کہا کہ تم نبی کریم ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہو کر یہ واقعہ بتاؤ تاکہ نبی کریم ﷺ تمہارے لئے بخشش کی دعاء کردیں، ان کا مقصد یہ تھا کہ شاید ان کے لئے کوئی راستہ نکل آئے چنانچہ وہ بارگاہ نبوت میں حاضر ہوئے اور عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ! میں بدکاری کا ارتکاب کر بیٹھا ہوں اس لئے مجھ پر سزاجاری کیجئے جو کتاب اللہ کے مطابق ہو، نبی کریم ﷺ نے ان سے اعراض کیا چار مرتبہ اسی طرح ہوا پھر نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا تم نے چار مرتبہ اس کا اقرار کیا ہے یہ بتاؤ کس کے ساتھ یہ گناہ کیا ہے؟ ماعز نے کہا فلاں عورت کے ساتھ نبی کریم ﷺ نے پوچھا کیا تم اس کے ساتھ لیٹے تھے؟ ماعز نے کہا جی ہاں! نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا کیا تم نے اس کے جسم کے ساتھ اپناجسم ملایا تھا؟ ماعز نے کہا جی ہاں! نبی کریم ﷺ نے پوچھا کیا تم نے اس کے ساتھ مجامعت کی تھی؟ ماعزنے کہا جی ہاں! نبی کریم ﷺ نے حکم دیا کہ اسے رجم کردیا جائے۔ چنانچہ لوگ اسے " حرہ " کی طرف لے گئے جب ماعز کو رجم کیا جانے لگا اور انہیں پتھر پڑے تو اس کی تکلیف محسوس کر کے وہ تیزی سے بھاگ کھڑے ہوئے لوگ انہیں پکڑنے سے عاجز آگئے تو اچانک عبداللہ بن انیس مل گئے انہوں نے اونٹ کی ایک ہڈی انہیں کھینچ کر دے ماری جس سے وہ جاں بحق ہوگئے، پھر وہ نبی کریم ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئے اور یہ واقعہ ذکر کیا نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا تم نے اسے چھوڑ کیوں نہ دیا؟ شاید وہ توبہ کرلیتا اور اللہ اس کی توبہ کو قبول کرلیتا اور نبی کریم ﷺ نے میرے والد سے فرمایا ہزال! بخدا! اگر تم اسے اپنے کپڑوں میں چھپالیتے تو یہ اس سے بہتر ہوتا جو تم نے اس کے ساتھ کیا۔
Naeem bin Hazal kehte hain ki Hazrat Maaz bin Malik (رضي الله تعالى عنه) mere walid ke zere saya parwarish the woh mohalle ki ek bandi ke sath mulawwis hogaye mere walid ne unse kaha ki tum Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki khidmat mein hazir hokar yeh waqea batao taake Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) tumhare liye bakhshish ki dua kardein unka maqsad yeh tha ki shayad unke liye koi rasta nikal aaye chunancha woh bargah e nabuat mein hazir huye aur arz kiya Ya Rasulullah main badkari ka irtikab kar betha hun isliye mujh par saza jari kijiye jo kitab Allah ke mutabiq ho Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne unse airaz kiya chaar martaba isi tarah hua phir Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya tumne chaar martaba iska iqrar kiya hai yeh batao kiske sath yeh gunah kiya hai Maaz ne kaha falan aurat ke sath Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne pucha kya tum uske sath lete the Maaz ne kaha ji haan Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya kya tumne uske jism ke sath apna jism milaya tha Maaz ne kaha ji haan Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne pucha kya tumne uske sath mujamaat ki thi Maaz ne kaha ji haan Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne hukum diya ke usey rajam kar diya jaye chunancha log usey Harrah ki taraf le gaye jab Maaz ko rajam kiya jane laga aur unhen pathar pade to uski takleef mehsoos karke woh tezi se bhaag khde huye log unhen pakadne se aajiz agaye to achanak Abdullah bin Uneys mil gaye unhon ne unt ki ek haddi unhen khench kar de maari jissey woh jaan bahaq hogaye phir woh Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki khidmat mein hazir huye aur yeh waqea zikar kiya Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya tumne usey chhod kyun na diya shayad woh tauba karleta aur Allah uski tauba ko qubool karleta aur Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne mere walid se farmaya Hazal bakhuda agar tum usey apne kapdon mein chupa lete to yeh usse behtar hota jo tumne uske sath kiya
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ , حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ , أَخْبَرَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ نُعَيْمِ بنِ هَزَّالٍ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , قَالَ: كَانَ مَاعِزُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ فِي حِجْرِ أَبِي , فَأَصَابَ جَارِيَةً مِنَ الْحَيِّ , فَقَالَ لَهُ أَبِي: ائْتِ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَخْبِرْهُ بِمَا صَنَعْتَ لَعَلَّهُ يَسْتَغْفِرُ لَكَ , وَإِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ بِذَلِكَ رَجَاءَ أَنْ يَكُونَ لَهُ مَخْرَجٌ , فَأَتَاهُ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , إِنِّي زَنَيْتُ فَأَقِمْ عَلَيَّ كِتَابَ اللَّهِ , فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ , ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ الثَّانِيَةَ , فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , إِنِّي زَنَيْتُ فَأَقِمْ عَلَيَّ كِتَابَ اللَّهِ , ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ الثَّالِثَةَ , فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , إِنِّي زَنَيْتُ فَأَقِمْ عَلَيَّ كِتَابَ اللَّهِ , ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ الرَّابِعَةَ , فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , إِنِّي زَنَيْتُ فَأَقِمْ عَلَيَّ كِتَابَ اللَّهِ , فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنَّكَ قَدْ قُلْتَهَا أَرْبَعَ مَرَّاتٍ , فَبِمَنْ؟" , قَالَ: بِفُلَانَةَ , قَالَ:" هَلْ ضَاجَعْتَهَا؟" , قَالَ: نَعَمْ , قَالَ:" هَلْ بَاشَرْتَهَا؟" , قَالَ: نَعَمْ , قَالَ:" هَلْ جَامَعْتَهَا؟" , قَالَ: نَعَمْ , قَالَ: فَأَمَرَ بِهِ أَنْ يُرْجَمَ , قَالَ: فَأُخْرِجَ بِهِ إِلَى الْحَرَّةِ , فَلَمَّا رُجِمَ , فَوَجَدَ مَسَّ الْحِجَارَةِ جَزَعَ , فَخَرَجَ يَشْتَدُّ , فَلَقِيَهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أُنَيْس وَقَدْ أَعْجَزَ أَصْحَابَهُ , فَنَزَعَ لَهُ بِوَظِيفِ بَعِيرٍ فَرَمَاهُ بِهِ , فَقَتَلَهُ , قَالَ: ثُمَّ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ , فَقَالَ:" هَلَّا تَرَكْتُمُوهُ لَعَلَّهُ يَتُوبُ , فَيَتُوبَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ" . قَالَ هِشَامٌ: فَحَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ نُعَيْمِ بْنِ هَزَّالٍ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِأَبِي حِينَ رَآهُ:" وَاللَّهِ يَا هَزَّالُ لَوْ كُنْتَ سَتَرْتَهُ بِثَوْبِكَ , كَانَ خَيْرًا مِمَّا صَنَعْتَ بِهِ".
