Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 11583
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that after the conquest of Khyber, we people pounced on this vegetable (garlic) and ate it in plenty. Some people were on an empty stomach. When we reached the Masjid, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) smelled it. You (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever eats the fruit of this foul-smelling tree should not come near us in our Masjids." Hearing this, people started saying that garlic has become forbidden, it has become forbidden. When the news reached the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "O people! I have no right to forbid what Allah has made lawful, but I do not like the smell of this tree."

حضرت ابوسعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ فتح خیبر کے بعد ہم لوگ اس سبزی (لہسن) پر جھپٹ پڑے اور ہم نے اسے خوب کھایا، کچھ لوگ ویسے ہی خالی پیٹ تھے، جب ہم لوگ مسجد میں پہنچے تو نبی ﷺ کو اس کی بو محسوس ہوئی، آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا جو شخص اس گندے درخت کا پھل کھائے وہ ہماری مسجدوں میں ہمارے قریب نہ آئے، لوگ یہ سن کر کہنے لگے کہ لہسن حرام ہوگیا، حرام ہوگیا، جب نبی ﷺ کو اس کی خبر ہوئی تو آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا لوگو! جس چیز کو اللہ نے حلال قرار دیا ہے، مجھے اسے حرام قرار دینے کا اختیار نہیں ہے، البتہ مجھے اس درخت کی بو پسند نہیں ہے۔
Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri raziallahu anhu se marvi hai ki Fath Khyber ke baad hum log is sabzi (lehsan) per jhappat pade aur hum ne use khoob khaya, kuchh log waise hi khali pet the, jab hum log masjid mein pahunche to Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko is ki boo mehsoos hui, Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya jo shakhs is gande darakht ka phal khaye woh hamari masajid mein humare qareeb na aaye, log ye sun kar kehne lage ki lehsan haram hogaya, haram hogaya, jab Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko is ki khabar hui to Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya logo! Jis cheez ko Allah ne halal qarar diya hai, mujhe use haram qarar dene ka ikhtiyar nahin hai, albatta mujhe is darakht ki boo pasand nahin hai.
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدٌ الْجُرَيْرِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ: لَمْ نَعْدُ أَنْ فُتِحَتْ خَيْبَرُ، وَقَعْنَا أَصْحَابَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي تِيكَ الْبَقْلَةِ فِي الثُّومِ، فَأَكَلْنَا مِنْهَا أَكْلًا شَدِيدًا، وَنَاسٌ جِيَاعٌ، ثُمَّ رُحْنَا إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ، فَوَجَدَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الرِّيحَ، فَقَالَ:" مَنْ أَكَلَ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْبَقْلَةِ الْخَبِيثَةِ شَيْئًا، فَلَا يَقْرَبْنَا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ"، فَقَالَ نَاسٌ: حُرِّمَتْ، حُرِّمَتْ , فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ:" أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ لِي تَحْرِيمُ مَا أَحَلَّ اللَّهُ، وَلَكِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌ أَكْرَهُ رِيحَهَا".
