Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 1518
Jabir ibn Samurah reported: The people of Kufa complained to Umar ibn al-Khattab about Sa'd, that he did not lead the prayer well. Umar asked them (about it), whereupon they said, "He prolongs the first two rak'ahs of prayer and shortens the last two." Sa'd said, "I do not fall short of following the prayer I saw the Prophet offering." Umar said, "This is what I expected from you."

سیدنا جابر بن سمرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ ایک مرتبہ اہل کوفہ نے سیدنا عمر فاروق رضی اللہ عنہ سے سیدنا سعد رضی اللہ عنہ کی شکایت کی کہ وہ اچھی طرح نماز نہیں پڑھاتے، سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے ان سے پوچھا، تو انہوں نے فرمایا کہ میں تو پہلی دو رکعتیں نسبتا لمبی کرتا ہوں اور دوسری دو رکعتیں مختصر کر دیتا ہوں، اور میں نے نبی ﷺ کی اقتداء میں جو نمازیں پڑھی ہیں، ان کی پیروی کرنے میں، میں کوئی کوتاہی نہیں کرتا، سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے فرمایا کہ مجھے آپ سے یہی امید تھی۔
Sydna Jabir bin Samrah razi Allah anhu kehty hain keh aik martaba ahle Kufa ne Sydna Umar Farooq razi Allah anhu se Sydna Saad razi Allah anhu ki shikayat ki keh woh achhi tarah namaz nahi parhaty, Sydna Umar razi Allah anhu ne un se poocha, tou unhon ne farmaya keh main tou pehli do rakaten nisbatan lambi karta hoon aur dosri do rakaten mukhtasar kar deta hoon, aur main ne Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki iqtida mein jo namazain parhayi hain, un ki pairavi karny mein, main koi kotahi nahi karta, Sydna Umar razi Allah anhu ne farmaya keh mujhe aap se yahi umeed thi.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَنْبَأَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ، قَالَ: شَكَا أَهْلُ الْكُوفَةِ سَعْدًا إِلَى عُمَرَ، فَقَالُوا: لَا يُحْسِنُ يُصَلِّي , قَالَ: فَسَأَلَهُ عُمَرُ، فَقَالَ: إِنِّي أُصَلِّي بِهِمْ صَلَاةَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَرْكُدُ فِي الْأُولَيَيْنِ، وَأَحْذِفُ فِي الْأُخْرَيَيْنِ , قَالَ: ذَلِكَ الظَّنُّ بِكَ يَا أَبَا إِسْحَاقَ.
