Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 16270
It is narrated by Sayyidina Usman that once I submitted in the court of the Prophet: O Messenger of Allah! Appoint me as the Imam of my people. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: You are the Imam of your people. Pray considering the weakest among you and appoint a Muazzin who does not take any salary for his Adhan.

سیدنا عثمان سے مروی ہے کہ میں نے ایک مرتبہ بارگاہ رسالت میں عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! مجھے میری قوم کا امام مقررر کر دیجیے نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: تم اپنی قوم کے امام ہو سب سے کمزور آدمی کا خیال رکھ کر نماز پڑھانا اور ایک مؤذن مقرر کر لو جو اپنی اذان پر کوئی تنخواہ نہ لے۔

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنِ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، اجْعَلْنِي إِمَامَ قَوْمِي، فَقَالَ:" أَنْتَ إِمَامُهُمْ، وَاقْتَدِ بِأَضْعَفِهِمْ، وَاتَّخِذْ مُؤَذِّنًا لَا يَأْخُذُ عَلَى أَذَانِهِ أَجْرًا".
