Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 16580
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Ayyash Zarqi (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we were with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) at a place called Usfan when we saw the polytheists approaching from the front. Their leader was Khalid bin Walid. They were standing between us and the Qibla. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) started leading us in the Zuhr prayer. Seeing this, the polytheists said that if we wanted, we could have attacked them in this state. Then they said to themselves that now the time for another prayer is approaching, which is dearer to them than their children and their own lives. On this occasion, during the time between Zuhr and Asr, Sayyiduna Jibraeel (Gabriel) descended with these verses: "I will surely cast terror into the hearts of the disbelievers..." So, when the time for Asr prayer came, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) commanded the Companions, and they took up their weapons. Then, we formed two rows behind the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) bowed, we also bowed. When he raised his head from bowing, we also raised our heads. Then, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prostrated along with the first row, and the second row stood guard. When they finished prostrating and stood up, the people in the back row sat down and prostrated. Then, both rows switched places and came to each other's places. Then, in the second Rak'ah, everyone bowed and raised their heads together in the same manner. After that, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prostrated with the row behind him, and the people in the back row stood guard. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sat down, the people in the second row also sat down and prostrated. After this, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ended the prayer with Salam. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayed such a prayer twice: once in Usfan and once in some area of Banu Salim.

سیدنا ابوعیاش زرقی رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ ہم لوگ نبی ﷺ کے ساتھ مقام عسفان میں تھے کہ مشرکین سامنے سے آتے ہوئے نظر آئے، ان کے سردار خالد بن ولید تھے، وہ لوگ ہمارے اور قبلہ کے درمیان حائل تھے، نبی ﷺ اسی دوران ہمیں ظہر کی نماز پڑھانے لگے، مشرکین یہ دیکھ کر کہنے لگے کہ یہ لوگ جس حال میں تھے اگر ہم چاہتے تو ان پر حملہ کر سکتے تھے، پھر خود ہی کہنے لگے کہ ابھی ایک اور نماز کا وقت آنے والا ہے جو انہیں ان کی اولاد اور خود اپنی جان سے بھی زیادہ عزیز ہے۔ اس موقع پر ظہر اور عصر کے درمیانی وقفے میں سیدنا جبرائیل یہ آیات لے کر نازل ہوئے واذا کنت فیہم۔۔۔۔۔۔ چنانچہ جب نماز عصر کا وقت آیا تو نبی ﷺ نے صحابہ کو حکم دیا اور انہوں نے اپنے ہتھیار سنبھال لئے پھر ہم نے نبی ﷺ کے پیچھے دو صفیں بنالیں، نبی ﷺ نے رکوع کیا تو ہم نے بھی رکوع کیا، آپ نے رکوع سے سر اٹھایا تو ہم نے بھی اٹھا لیا، پھر نبی ﷺ نے پہلی صف والوں کو ساتھ ملا کر سجدہ کیا اور دوسری صف والے کھڑے ہو کر نگہبانی کرتے رہے، جب وہ سجدہ کر چکے اور کھڑے ہو گئے تو پیچھے والوں نے بیٹھ کر سجدہ کر لیا، پھر دونوں صفوں نے اپنی اپنی جگہ تبدیل کر لی اور ایک دوسرے کی جگہ پر آ گئے۔ پھر دوسری رکعت میں بھی اسی طرح سب نے اکٹھے رکوع کیا اور سر اٹھایا، اس کے بعد نبی ﷺ نے اپنے پیچھے والی صف کے ساتھ سجدہ کیا اور پیچھے والے کھڑے ہو کر نگہبانی کرتے رہے، جب نبی ﷺ بیٹھ گئے تو دوسری صف والوں نے بھی بیٹھ کر سجدہ کر لیا، اس کے بعد نبی ﷺ نے سلام پھیر دیا اور نماز سے فارغ ہو گئے اس طرح کی نماز نبی ﷺ نے دو مرتبہ پڑھائی تھی، ایک مرتبہ عسفان میں اور ایک مرتبہ بنوسلیم کے کسی علاقے میں۔
Sayyidna Abu Ayyash Zarqi razi Allah anhu se marvi hai ki ek martaba hum log Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke sath maqam Asfan mein the ki mushrikeen samne se aate hue nazar aaye, un ke sardar Khalid bin Walid the, woh log hamare aur qibla ke darmiyan hail the, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) isi dauran hamein zuhar ki namaz parhane lage, mushrikeen yeh dekh kar kahne lage ki yeh log jis hal mein the agar hum chahte to un par hamla kar sakte the, phir khud hi kahne lage ki abhi ek aur namaz ka waqt aane wala hai jo unhen un ki aulad aur khud apni jaan se bhi ziada aziz hai. Is mauqe par zuhar aur asr ke darmiyani waqfe mein Sayyidna Jibrail yeh ayat le kar nazil hue waiza kunt fihim..... chunanche jab namaz asr ka waqt aaya to Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne sahaba ko hukm diya aur unhon ne apne hathiyar sambhal liye phir hum ne Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke peeche do safein bana li, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne ruku kiya to hum ne bhi ruku kiya, aap ne ruku se sar uthaya to hum ne bhi utha liya, phir Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne pehli saf walon ko sath mila kar sajdah kiya aur dusri saf wale kharade ho kar nigrani karte rahe, jab woh sajdah kar chuke aur kharade ho gaye to peeche walon ne baith kar sajdah kar liya, phir donon saffon ne apni apni jagah tabdeel kar li aur ek dusre ki jagah par aa gaye. Phir dusri rakat mein bhi isi tarah sab ne ikatthe ruku kiya aur sar uthaya, is ke baad Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne apne peeche wali saf ke sath sajdah kiya aur peeche wale kharade ho kar nigrani karte rahe, jab Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) baith gaye to dusri saf walon ne bhi baith kar sajdah kar liya, is ke baad Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne salam phir diya aur namaz se farigh ho gaye is tarah ki namaz Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne do martaba parhai thi, ek martaba Asfan mein aur ek martaba Banu Salim ke kisi ilaqe mein.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، حَدَّثَنَا الثَّوْرِيُّ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَيَّاشٍ الزُّرَقِيِّ ، قَالَ: كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِعُسْفَانَ، فَاسْتَقْبَلَنَا الْمُشْرِكُونَ، عَلَيْهِمْ خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، وَهُمْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ الْقِبْلَةِ، فَصَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الظُّهْرَ، فَقَالُوا: قَدْ كَانُوا عَلَى حَالٍ لَوْ أَصَبْنَا غِرَّتَهُمْ، ثُمَّ قَالُوا:" تَأْتِي عَلَيْهِمُ الْآنَ صَلَاةٌ هِيَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِمْ مِنْ أَبْنَائِهِمْ وَأَنْفُسِهِمْ، قَالَ: فَنَزَلَ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام بِهَذِهِ الْآيَاتِ بَيْنَ الظُّهْرِ، وَالْعَصْرِ: وَإِذَا كُنْتَ فِيهِمْ فَأَقَمْتَ لَهُمُ الصَّلاةَ سورة النساء آية 102، قَالَ: فَحَضَرَتْ فَأَمَرَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَأَخَذُوا السِّلَاحَ، قَالَ: فَصَفَفْنَا خَلْفَهُ صَفَّيْنِ، قَالَ: ثُمَّ رَكَعَ، فَرَكَعْنَا جَمِيعًا، ثُمَّ رَفَعَ، فَرَفَعْنَا جَمِيعًا، ثُمَّ سَجَدَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالصَّفِّ الَّذِي يَلِيهِ، وَالْآخَرُونَ قِيَامٌ يَحْرُسُونَهُمْ، فَلَمَّا سَجَدُوا وَقَامُوا، جَلَسَ الْآخَرُونَ، فَسَجَدُوا فِي مَكَانِهِمْ، ثُمَّ تَقَدَّمَ هَؤُلَاءِ إِلَى مَصَافِّ هَؤُلَاءِ، وَجَاءَ هَؤُلَاءِ إِلَى مَصَافِّ هَؤُلَاءِ، قَالَ: ثُمَّ رَكَعَ، فَرَكَعُوا جَمِيعًا، ثُمَّ رَفَعَ، فَرَفَعُوا جَمِيعًا، ثُمَّ سَجَدَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالصَّفُّ الَّذِي يَلِيهِ، وَالْآخَرُونَ قِيَامٌ يَحْرُسُونَهُمْ، فَلَمَّا جَلَسَ، جَلَسَ الْآخَرُونَ فَسَجَدُوا، فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِمْ، ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ، قَالَ: فَصَلَّاهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّتَيْنِ: مَرَّةً بِعُسْفَانَ، وَمَرَّةً بِأَرْضِ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ".
