Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 18129
It is narrated by Ka'b bin 'Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) mentioned about Fitna (tribulation). At the same time, a veiled man passed by. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) looked at him and said that on that day, this man and his companions will be on the truth. I followed him, grabbed his cloak, and turned his face towards the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and asked, "This man?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied, "Yes!" And behold, it was Uthman Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him).

حضرت کعب بن عجرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے ایک مرتبہ فتنہ کا ذکر فرمایا اسی دوران وہاں سے ایک نقاب پوش آدمی گذرا نبی کریم ﷺ نے اسے دیکھ کر فرمایا کہ اس دن یہ اور اس کے ساتھی حق پر ہوں گے میں اس کے پیچھے چلا گیا اس کامونڈھا پکڑا اور نبی کریم ﷺ کی طرف اس کا رخ کرکے پوچھا یہ آدمی؟ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا ہاں! دیکھا تو وہ حضرت عثمان غنی رضی اللہ عنہ تھے۔
Hazrat Kaab bin Ujrah RA se marvi hai keh Nabi Kareem SAW ne aik martaba fitna ka zikar farmaya isi doran wahan se aik naqab posh aadmi guzra Nabi Kareem SAW ne usey dekh kar farmaya keh us din yeh aur uske saathi haq par honge mein uske peeche chala gaya us ka moondha pakra aur Nabi Kareem SAW ki taraf uska rukh karke poocha yeh aadmi Nabi Kareem SAW ne farmaya haan dekha to woh Hazrat Usman Ghani RA thay.
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَذَكَرَ فِتْنَةً فَقَرَّبَهَا، فَمَرَّ رَجُلٌ مُتَقَنِّعٌ، فَقَالَ:" هَذَا يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَى الْهُدَى". قَالَ: فَاتَّبَعْتُهُ حَتَّى أَخَذْتُ بِضَبْعَيْهِ، فَحَوَّلْتُ وَجْهَهُ إِلَيْهِ، وَكَشَفْتُ عَنْ رَأْسِهِ، وَقُلْتُ: هَذَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ فقَالَ:" نَعَمْ". فَإِذَا هُوَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تعالى عَنْهُ .
