The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2065
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "I have been commanded to offer two rak'ahs of Chasht (forenoon prayer) and Witr (odd-numbered prayer at night), but they have not been made obligatory on the Ummah (Muslim nation)."

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا: ”مجھے چاشت کی دو رکعتوں اور وتر کا حکم دیا گیا ہے لیکن انہیں امت پر فرض نہیں کیا گیا۔“
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai keh Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne irshad farmaya: “Mujhe chast ki do rakaton aur witr ka hukum diya gaya hai lekin inhen ummat par farz nahin kiya gaya.”
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" أُمِرْتُ بِرَكْعَتَيْ الضُّحَى وَبِالْوَتْرِ، وَلَمْ يُكْتَبْ".
