Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 21444
It is narrated by Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we were leaving from a side of Madinah, I was behind the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "O Abu Dharr! Offer the prayer at its appointed time. If you come when people have already prayed, then you have secured your prayer. And if they have not prayed, then join them and this prayer will be Nafl for you."

حضرت ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ ہم لوگ مدینہ منورہ کے کسی کنارے سے نکلے تو میں نبی کریم ﷺ کے پیچھے تھا نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا اے بوذر! نماز کو اس کے وقت مقررہ پر ادا کرنا اگر تم اس وقت آؤ جب لوگ نماز پڑھ چکے ہوں تو تم اپنی نماز محفوظ کرچکے ہوگے اور اگر انہوں نے نماز نہ پڑھی ہو تو تم ان کے ساتھ شریک ہوجانا اور یہ نماز تمہارے لئے نفل ہوجائے گی۔
Hazrat Abuzar Raziallahu Anhu se marvi hai ki ek martaba hum log Madina Munawwara ke kisi kinare se nikle to main Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke peeche tha Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya aye Buzar Namaz ko uske waqt muqarrara par ada karna agar tum us waqt aao jab log Namaz parh chuke hon to tum apni Namaz mahfooz kar chuke honge aur agar unhon ne Namaz na parhi ho to tum unke sath sharik ho jana aur ye Namaz tumhare liye nafl ho jayegi
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ بُشَيْرِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ الْعَدَوِيِّ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ عَنَزَةَ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِأَبِي ذَرٍّ : حِينَ سُيِّرَ مِنَ الشَّامِ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ، وَقَالَ فِيهِ: هَلْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَافِحُكُمْ إِذَا لَقِيتُمُوهُ؟ فَقَالَ: مَا لَقِيتُهُ قَطُّ إِلَّا صَافَحَنِي .
