Hadith of Usama ibn Zaid, the beloved of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 21777
It is narrated on the authority of Usama (may Allah be pleased with him) that once, Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him), Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), and Zaid bin Harithah (may Allah be pleased with him) were together in one place. During the conversation, Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) loved him the most. Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said the same thing about himself, and Zaid bin Harithah (may Allah be pleased with him) also said the same about himself. To settle the matter, they decided to go to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and ask him directly. So they came and asked permission to enter upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked me, "Look, who are these people who have come?" I looked and submitted, "Ja'far, Ali, and Zaid have come." I did not say that my father had come. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Allow them to enter." They came inside and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Who do you love the most?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied, "Fatima." They said, "We are asking you about men." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "O Ja'far! Your appearance resembles my appearance the most, and your character resembles my character the most. You are from me and my lineage." He said, "O Ali! You are my son-in-law and the father of my children (grandsons). I am from you and you are from me." And he said, "O Zaid! You are our freed slave and from me and towards me, and you are the most beloved to me among all people."

حضرت اسامہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ حضرت جعفر رضی اللہ عنہ علی رضی اللہ عنہ اور زید بن حارثہ رضی اللہ عنہ ایک جگہ اکٹھے تھے دوران گفتگو حضرت جعفر رضی اللہ عنہ کہنے لگے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ کو میں تم سب سے زیادہ محبوب ہوں، حضرت علی رضی اللہ عنہ نے یہی بات اپنے متعلق کہی اور حضرت زید بن حارثہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے اپنے متعلق کہی، فیصلہ کرنے کے لئے وہ کہنے لگے کہ آؤ نبی کریم ﷺ کے پاس چل کر ان سے پوچھ لیتے ہیں چنانچہ وہ آئے اور نبی کریم ﷺ سے اندر آنے کی اجازت چاہی نبی کریم ﷺ نے مجھ سے فرمایا کہ دیکھو، یہ کون لوگ آئے ہیں؟ میں نے دیکھ کر عرض کیا کہ جعفر علی اور زید آئے ہیں، میں نے یہ نہیں کہا کہ میرے والد آئے ہیں نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا انہیں اندر آنے کی اجازت دے دو۔ وہ اندر آئے اور کہنے لگے یا رسول اللہ! آپ کو سب سے زیادہ کس سے محبت ہے؟ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا فاطمہ سے، انہوں نے کہا ہم آپ سے مردوں کے حوالے سے پوچھ رہے ہیں، نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا اے جعفر! تمہاری صورت میری صورت سے اور تمہاری سیرت میری سیرت سے سب سے زیادہ مشابہہ ہے تم مجھ سے ہو اور میرا شجرہ ہو اور علی! تم میرے داماد اور میرے بچوں (نواسوں) کے باپ ہو، میں تم سے ہوں اور تم مجھ سے ہو اور اے زید! تم ہمارے مولیٰ ہو اور مجھ سے ہو اور میری طرف ہو اور تمام لوگوں میں مجھے سب سے زیادہ محبوب ہو۔
Hazrat Usama (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki aik martaba Hazrat Jaffar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) Ali (رضي الله تعالى عنه) aur Zaid bin Haritha (رضي الله تعالى عنه) aik jaga ikathe thay doran guftgu Hazrat Jaffar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kahne lage ki Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko main tum sab se zyada mahboob hun, Hazrat Ali (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne yahi baat apne mutalliq kahi aur Hazrat Zaid bin Haritha (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne apne mutalliq kahi, faisla karne ke liye woh kahne lage ki aao Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke paas chal kar un se poochh lete hain chunancha woh aaye aur Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se andar aane ki ijazat chahi Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne mujh se farmaya ki dekho, yeh kaun log aaye hain? Maine dekh kar arz kiya ki Jaffar Ali aur Zaid aaye hain, maine yeh nahin kaha ki mere walid aaye hain Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya unhen andar aane ki ijazat de do. Woh andar aaye aur kahne lage Ya Rasulullah! Aap ko sab se zyada kis se mohabbat hai? Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya Fatima se, unhon ne kaha hum aap se mardon ke hawale se poochh rahe hain, Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya aye Jaffar! Tumhari surat meri surat se aur tumhari seerat meri seerat se sab se zyada mushabahat hai tum mujh se ho aur mera shajra ho aur Ali! Tum mere damad aur mere bachchon (nawason) ke baap ho, main tum se hun aur tum mujh se ho aur aye Zaid! Tum hamare maula ho aur mujh se ho aur meri taraf ho aur tamam logon mein mujhe sab se zyada mahboob ho.
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ , حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ , عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ , عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ قُسَيْطٍ , عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أُسَامَةَ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , قَالَ: اجْتَمَعَ جَعْفَرٌ , وَعَلِيٌّ , وَزَيْدُ بْنُ حَارِثَةَ , فَقَالَ جَعْفَرٌ: أنَا أَحَبُّكُمْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ عَلِيٌّ: أَنَا أَحَبُّكُمْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , وَقَالَ زَيْدٌ: أَنَا أَحَبُّكُمْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَقَالُوا: انْطَلِقُوا بِنَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى نَسْأَلَهُ , فَقَالَ أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ: فَجَاءُوا يَسْتَأْذِنُونَهُ , فَقَالَ:" اخْرُجْ فَانْظُرْ مَنْ هَؤُلَاءِ" فَقُلْتُ: هَذَا جَعْفَرٌ , وَعَلِيٌّ , وَزَيْدٌ , مَا أَقُولُ: أَبِي , قَالَ:" ائْذَنْ لَهُمْ" وَدَخَلُوا فَقَالُوا: مَنْ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْكَ؟ قَالَ:" فَاطِمَةُ" , قَالُوا: نَسْأَلُكَ عَنِ الرِّجَالِ , قَالَ: " أَمَّا أَنْتَ يَا جَعْفَرُ , فَأَشْبَهَ خَل?قُكَ خَلْقِي , وَأَشْبَهَ خُلُقِي خُلُقُكَ , وَأَنْتَ مِنِّي وَشَجَرَتِي , وَأَمَّا أَنْتَ يَا عَلِيُّ , فَخَتَنِي وَأَبُو وَلَدِي , وَأَنَا مِنْكَ وَأَنْتَ مِنِّي , وَأَمَّا أَنْتَ يَا زَيْدُ , فَمَوْلَايَ وَمِنِّي وَإِلَيَّ , وَأَحَبُّ الْقَوْمِ إِلَيَّ" .
