Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 22016
It is narrated by Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was with the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) on a journey. During the journey, one day I got close to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and I said, "O Prophet of Allah! Tell me such a deed which will make me enter Paradise and keep me away from Hell." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "You have asked a very big thing, but it is very easy for whom Allah makes it easy. Worship Allah, do not associate anyone with Him, establish prayer, pay Zakat, fast in the month of Ramadan and perform Hajj of the House of Allah." Then he said, "Shall I not tell you the doors of goodness? Fasting is a shield, charity extinguishes sins as water extinguishes fire, and the prayer of a person in the middle of the night is among the best deeds." Then the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recited this verse of Surah Sajdah, "Their sides forsake their beds, to call upon their Lord in fear and hope, and they spend (charity in the way of Allah) out of what We have bestowed upon them." Then he said, "Shall I not tell you about the foundation of religion, its pillar and the height of its peak?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Why not?" He said, "The foundation of this religion is Islam, its pillar is prayer, and the height of its peak is Jihad." Then he said, "Shall I not tell you the sum of these things?" I said, "Why not, O Prophet of Allah?" So the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) held his tongue and said, "Hold it back." I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Will we also be held accountable for what we say?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) (rebuking with love) said, "May your mother lose you, O Mu'adh! Will anything else besides their talk about others throw people on their faces into Hell?"

حضرت معاذ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ میں نبی کریم ﷺ کے ہمراہ کسی سفر میں تھا دوران سفر ایک دن مجھے نبی کریم ﷺ کا قرب حاصل ہوگیا میں نے عرض کیا اے اللہ کے نبی! مجھے کوئی ایسا عمل بتا دیجئے جو مجھے جنت میں داخل کر دے اور جہنم سے دور کر دے، نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا تم نے بہت بڑی بات پوچھی البتہ جس کے لئے اللہ آسان کر دے اس کے لئے بہت آسان ہے، اللہ کی عبادت کرو اس کے ساتھ کسی کو شریک نہ ٹھہراؤ، نماز قائم کرو، زکوٰۃ ادا کرو، ماہ رمضان کے روزے رکھو اور بیت اللہ کا حج کرو۔ پھر فرمایا کیا میں تمہیں خیر کے دروازے نہ بتادوں؟ روزہ ڈھال ہے صدقہ گناہوں کو بجھا دیتا ہے اور آدھی رات کو انسان کا نماز پڑھنا باب خیر میں سے ہے پھر نبی کریم ﷺ نے سورت سجدہ کی یہ آیت تلاوت فرمائی " تتجافی جنوبہم عنی المضاجع حتی بلغ یعملون " پھر فرمایا کیا میں تمہیں دین کی بنیاد، اس کا ستون اور اس کے کوہان کی بلندی کے متعلق نہ بتاؤں؟ میں نے عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ! کیوں نہیں فرمایا اس دین و مذہب کی بنیاد اسلام ہے اس کا ستون نماز ہے اور اس کے کوہان کی بلندی جہاد ہے پھر فرمایا کیا میں تمہیں ان چیزوں کا مجموعہ نہ بتادوں؟ میں نے عرض کیا کیوں نہیں اے اللہ کے نبی! تو نبی کریم ﷺ نے اپنی زبان پکڑ کر فرمایا اس کو روک کر رکھو میں نے عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ! ہم جو کچھ بولتے ہیں کیا اس پر بھی ہمارا مؤاخذہ کیا جائے گا؟ نبی کریم ﷺ نے (پیار سے ڈانٹتے ہوئے) فرمایا معاذ! تمہاری ماں تمہیں روئے لوگوں کو ان کے چہروں کے بل جہنم میں ان کی دوسروں کے متعلق کہی ہوئی باتوں کے علاوہ بھی کوئی چیز اوندھا گرائے گی؟
Hazrat Muaz Razi Allah Anhu se marvi hai ki ek martaba mein Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke hamrah kisi safar mein tha dauran safar ek din mujhe Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka qurb hasil hogaya mein ne arz kiya aye Allah ke Nabi! mujhe koi aisa amal bata dijiye jo mujhe jannat mein dakhil kar de aur jahannam se door kar de, Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya tum ne bahut badi baat poochhi albatta jis ke liye Allah aasan kar de uske liye bahut aasan hai, Allah ki ibadat karo uske sath kisi ko sharik na therao, namaz qaim karo, zakat ada karo, mah-e-ramzan ke roze rakho aur Baitullah ka hajj karo. Phir farmaya kya mein tumhen khair ke darwaze na bata doon? Roza dhal hai sadqa gunahon ko bujha deta hai aur aadhi raat ko insan ka namaz padhna baab khair mein se hai phir Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Surah Sajda ki yeh ayat tilawat farmayi " Tatajafi Junoobuhum An Al Madijai Ilaa An Balagha Ya'maloon" phir farmaya kya mein tumhen deen ki bunyad, us ka sutun aur uske kohan ki bulandi ke mutalliq na bataun? mein ne arz kiya Ya Rasul Allah! kyun nahi farmaya is deen-o-mazhab ki bunyad Islam hai is ka sutun namaz hai aur uske kohan ki bulandi jihad hai phir farmaya kya mein tumhen in cheezon ka majmua na bata doon? mein ne arz kiya kyun nahi aye Allah ke Nabi! to Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne apni zaban pakad kar farmaya is ko rok kar rakho mein ne arz kiya Ya Rasul Allah! hum jo kuch bolte hain kya is par bhi hamara moakhaza kiya jayega? Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne (pyar se daantte huye) farmaya Muaz! tumhari maa tumhen roye logon ko unke chehron ke bal jahannam mein un ki dusron ke mutalliq kahi hui baaton ke ilawa bhi koi cheez onda giraegi?.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ , أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ , عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ أَبِي النَّجُودِ , عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ , عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ , قَالَ: كُنْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفَرٍ , فَأَصْبَحْتُ يَوْمًا قَرِيبًا مِنْهُ وَنَحْنُ نَسِيرُ , فَقُلْتُ: يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ , أَخْبِرْنِي بِعَمَلٍ يُدْخِلُنِي الْجَنَّةَ , وَيُبَاعِدُنِي مِنَ النَّارِ , قَالَ: " لَقَدْ سَأَلْتَ عَنْ عَظِيمٍ , وَإِنَّهُ لَيَسِيرٌ عَلَى مَنْ يَسَّرَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ , تَعْبُدُ اللَّهَ وَلَا تُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا , وَتُقِيمُ الصَّلَاةَ , وَتُؤْتِي الزَّكَاةَ , وَتَصُومُ رَمَضَانَ , وَتَحُجُّ الْبَيْتَ" , ثُمَّ قَالَ:" أَلَا أَدُلُّكَ عَلَى أَبْوَابِ الْخَيْرِ؟ الصَّوْمُ جُنَّةٌ , وَالصَّدَقَةُ تُطْفِئُ الْخَطِيئَةَ , وَصَلَاةُ الرَّجُلِ فِي جَوْفِ اللَّيْلِ" , ثُمَّ قَرَأَ قَوْلَهُ تَعَالَى: تَتَجَافَى جُنُوبُهُمْ عَنِ الْمَضَاجِعِ سورة السجدة آية 16 حَتَّى بَلَغَ يَعْمَلُونَ سورة البقرة آية 96 , ثُمَّ قَالَ:" أَلَا أُخْبِرُكَ بِرَأْسِ الْأَمْرِ , وَعَمُودِهِ وَذُرْوَةِ سَنَامِهِ؟" , فَقُلْتُ: بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , قَالَ:" رَأْسُ الْأَمْرِ الإسلامُ , وَعَمُودُهُ الصَّلَاةُ , وَذِرْوَةُ سَنَامِهِ الْجِهَادُ" , ثُمَّ قَالَ:" أَلَا أُخْبِرُكَ بِمِلَاكِ ذَلِكَ كُلِّهِ؟" , فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: بَلَى يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ , فَأَخَذَ بِلِسَانِهِ , فَقَالَ:" كُفَّ عَلَيْكَ هَذَا" , فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , وَإِنَّا لَمُؤَاخَذُونَ بِمَا نَتَكَلَّمُ بِهِ , فَقَالَ:" ثَكِلَتْكَ أُمُّكَ يَا مُعَاذُ , وَهَلْ يَكُبُّ النَّاسَ عَلَى وُجُوهِهِمْ فِي النَّارِ" , أَوْ قَالَ:" عَلَى مَنَاخِرِهِمْ إِلَّا حَصَائِدُ أَلْسِنَتِهِمْ؟!" .
