Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 22813
It is narrated on the authority of Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) that in a battle, there was a man with the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) who fought very bravely and performed remarkable feats on the battlefield. The Muslims were very pleased with him, but the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "This man is from Hell." We asked, "Despite being in the way of Allah and with the Messenger of Allah?" Allah and His Messenger know best. During the battle, this man was wounded. When the pain of the wound intensified, he placed his sword on his chest and pierced it through himself. Seeing this, a man came to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said, "I have seen the man, about whom you said that, piercing his body with the sword." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "A person may outwardly appear to people to be doing deeds of the people of Paradise, but in reality, he is from the people of Hell. Similarly, a person may outwardly appear to people to be doing deeds of the people of Hell, but in reality, he is from the people of Paradise."

حضرت سہل رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک غزوے میں نبی کریم ﷺ کے ساتھ ایک آدمی تھا جس نے خوب جوانمردی کے ساتھ میدان جنگ میں کار ہائے نمایاں سر انجام دیئے مسلمان اس سے بہت خوش تھے لیکن نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا یہ آدمی جہنمی ہے ہم نے عرض کیا کہ اللہ کے راستے میں اور اللہ کے پیغمبر کے ساتھ ہونے کے باوجود؟ اللہ اور اس کے رسول ہی بہتر جانتے ہیں دوران جنگ اس آدمی کو ایک زخم لگا جب زخم کی تکلیف شدت اختیار کرگئی تو اس نے اپنی تلوار اپنی چھاتی پر رکھی اور اسے آرپار کردیا یہ دیکھ کر ایک آدمی نے نبی کریم ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہو کر بتایا کہ جس آدمی کے متعلق آپ نے وہ بات فرمائی تھی اسے میں نے اپنے جسم میں تلوار پیوست کرتے ہوئے دیکھا ہے نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا انسان بظاہر لوگوں کی نظروں میں اہل جنت والے اعمال کر رہا ہوتا ہے لیکن درحقیقت وہ اہل جہنم میں ہوتا ہے اسی طرح انسان بظاہر لوگوں کی نظروں میں اہل جہنم والے اعمال کر رہا ہوتا ہے لیکن درحقیقت وہ جنتی ہوتا ہے۔
Hazrat Sahl Radi Allaho Anho se marvi hai keh aik ghazwe mein Nabi Kareem Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam ke sath aik aadmi tha jis ne khoob jawanmardi ke sath maidan e jang mein karhaye numayan sar anjam diye Musalman us se bohat khush thay lekin Nabi Kareem Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam ne farmaya yeh aadmi jahannami hai hum ne arz kiya keh Allah ke rastay mein aur Allah ke paighambar ke sath honay ke bawajood? Allah aur us ke rasool hi behtar jantay hain dauran e jang us aadmi ko aik zakhm laga jab zakhm ki takleef shiddat ikhtiyar kar gayi to us ne apni talwar apni chhati par rakhi aur use aar paar kar diya yeh dekh kar aik aadmi ne Nabi Kareem Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam ki khidmat mein hazir ho kar bataya keh jis aadmi ke mutalliq aap ne woh baat farmaai thi usey mein ne apne jism mein talwar pewast karte hue dekha hai Nabi Kareem Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam ne farmaya Insan ba zahir logon ki nazron mein ehl e jannat walay amal kar raha hota hai lekin dar haqeeqat woh ehl e jahannam mein hota hai isi tarah Insan ba zahir logon ki nazron mein ehl e jahannam walay amal kar raha hota hai lekin dar haqeeqat woh jannati hota hai.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، قَالَ: كَانَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلٌ فِي بَعْضِ مَغَازِيهِ، فَأَبْلَى بَلَاءً حَسَنًا، فَعَجِبَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ مِنْ بَلَائِهِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" أَمَا إِنَّهُ مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ" , قُلْنَا: فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ! اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ , قَالَ: فَجُرِحَ الرَّجُلُ، فَلَمَّا اشْتَدَّتْ بِهِ الْجِرَاحُ وَضَعَ ذُبَابَ سَيْفِهِ بَيْنَ ثَدْيَيْهِ، ثُمَّ اتَّكَأَ عَلَيْهِ، فَأُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ: الرَّجُلُ الَّذِي قُلْتَ لَهُ مَا قُلْتَ، قَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ يَتَضَرَّبُ وَالسَّيْفُ بَيْنَ أَضْعَافِهِ , فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَعْمَلُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ فِيمَا يَبْدُوَ لِلنَّاسِ، وَإِنَّهُ لَمِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ، وَإِنَّهُ لَيَعْمَلُ عَمَلَ أَهْلِ النَّارِ فِيمَا يَبْدُو لِلنَّاسِ، وَإِنَّهُ لَمِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ" .
