Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 23012
It is narrated on the authority of Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent two detachments towards Yemen. He appointed Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) as the commander of one and Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) as the commander of the other, saying, "When you are together, Ali will be the commander of all, and when you are separated, each one will be the commander of his own detachment." So we met Banu Zaid from among the people of Yemen. We fought them, and the Muslims prevailed over the polytheists. We killed the fighters and captured the children. Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) chose a captive woman for himself. Seeing this, Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote a letter to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) informing him of this and sent it to him through me. I presented myself in the court of the Prophet and presented the letter. The letter was read aloud to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). I saw signs of anger on the blessed face of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). I said, "O Messenger of Allah! I seek refuge in Allah. You sent me with a man and ordered me to obey him. I have acted upon this message." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Do not misunderstand Ali. He is from me and I am from him, and he is your beloved after me." (He said this twice).

حضرت بریدہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے یمن کی طرف دو دستے روانہ فرمائے جن میں سے ایک پر حضرت علی رضی اللہ عنہ کو اور دوسرے پر حضرت خالد بن ولید رضی اللہ عنہ کو امیر مقرر کرتے ہوئے فرمایا جب تم لوگ اکٹھے ہو تو علی سب کے امیر ہوں گے اور جب جدا ہو تو ہر ایک اپنے دستے کا امیر ہوگا چناچہ ہماری ملاقات اہل یمن میں سے بنو زید سے ہوئی ہم نے ان سے قتال کیا تو مسلمان مشرکین پر غالب آگئے ہم نے لڑنے والوں کو قتل اور بچوں کو قید کرلیا حضرت علی رضی اللہ عنہ نے ان میں سے ایک قیدی عورت اپنے لئے منتخب کرلی۔ حضرت خالد بن ولید رضی اللہ عنہ نے یہ دیکھ کر نبی کریم کریم ﷺ کی خدمت میں ایک خط لکھا جس میں انہیں اس سے مطلع کیا گیا تھا اور وہ خط مجھے دے کر بھیج دیا میں بارگاہ نبوت میں حاضر ہوا اور خط پیش کیا نبی کریم ﷺ کو وہ خط پڑھ کر سنایا گیا میں نے نبی کریم ﷺ کے روئے انور پر غصے کے آثار دیکھے میں نے عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ! میں اللہ کی پناہ میں آتا ہوں آپ نے مجھے ایک آدمی کے ساتھ بھیجا تھا اور مجھے اس کی اطاعت کا حکم دیا تھا میں نے اس پیغام پر عمل کیا ہے نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا تم علی کے متعلق کسی غلط فہمی میں نہ پڑنا وہ مجھ سے ہے اور میں اس سے ہوں اور وہ میرے بعد تمہارا محبوب ہے (یہ جملہ دو مرتبہ فرمایا)
Hazrat Buraidah raziallahu anhu se marvi hai ke Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Yemen ki taraf do daste rawana farmaye jin mein se ek par Hazrat Ali raziallahu anhu ko aur dusre par Hazrat Khalid bin Waleed raziallahu anhu ko ameer muqarrar karte hue farmaya jab tum log ikatthe ho to Ali sab ke ameer honge aur jab juda ho to har ek apne daste ka ameer hoga chunancha hamari mulaqat ahl Yemen mein se Banu Zaid se hui hum ne un se qatal kiya to musalman mushrikon par ghalib aagaye hum ne ladne walon ko qatal aur bachon ko qaid karliya Hazrat Ali raziallahu anhu ne un mein se ek qaidi aurat apne liye muntakhib karli. Hazrat Khalid bin Waleed raziallahu anhu ne ye dekh kar Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki khidmat mein ek khat likha jis mein unhen is se muttala kiya gaya tha aur wo khat mujhe de kar bhej diya mein bargah e nabuwwat mein hazir hua aur khat pesh kiya Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko wo khat padh kar sunaya gaya maine Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke roohe anwar par ghusse ke asar dekhe maine arz kiya Ya Rasulullah mein Allah ki panaah mein aata hun aap ne mujhe ek aadmi ke sath bheja tha aur mujhe us ki itaat ka hukm diya tha maine is paigham par amal kiya hai Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya tum Ali ke mutalliq kisi ghalat fehmi mein na parhna wo mujh se hai aur mein us se hun aur wo mere baad tumhara mahboob hai (ye jumla do martaba farmaya).
حَدَّثَنَا ابنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَجْلَحُ الْكِنْدِيُّ ، عَنْ عَبدِ اللَّهِ بنِ برَيْدَةَ ، عَنْ أَبيهِ برَيْدَةَ ، قَالَ: بعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بعْثَيْنِ إِلَى الْيَمَنِ، عَلَى أَحَدِهِمَا عَلِيُّ بنُ أَبي طَالِب، وَعَلَى الْآخَرِ خَالِدُ بنُ الْوَلِيدِ، فَقَالَ:" إِذَا الْتَقَيْتُمْ فَعَلِيٌّ عَلَى النَّاسِ، وَإِنْ افْتَرَقْتُمَا، فَكُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْكُمَا عَلَى جُنْدِهِ"، قَالَ: فَلَقِينَا بنِي زَيْدٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْيَمَنِ، فَاقْتَتَلْنَا، فَظَهَرَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ عَلَى الْمُشْرِكِينَ، فَقَتَلْنَا الْمُقَاتِلَةَ، وَسَبيْنَا الذُّرِّيَّةَ، فَاصْطَفَى عَلِيٌّ امْرَأَةً مِنَ السَّبيِ لِنَفْسِهِ، قَالَ برَيْدَةُ: فَكَتَب مَعِي خَالِدُ بنُ الْوَلِيدِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُخْبرُهُ بذَلِكَ، فَلَمَّا أَتَيْتُ النَّبيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، دَفَعْتُ الْكِتَاب، فَقُرِئَ عَلَيْهِ، فَرَأَيْتُ الْغَضَب فِي وَجْهِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، هَذَا مَكَانُ الْعَائِذِ، بعَثْتَنِي مَعَ رَجُلٍ وَأَمَرْتَنِي أَنْ أُطِيعَهُ، فَفَعَلْتُ مَا أُرْسِلْتُ بهِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَا تَقَعْ فِي عَلِيٍّ، فَإِنَّهُ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُ، وَهُوَ وَلِيُّكُمْ بعْدِي، وَإِنَّهُ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُ، وَهُوَ وَلِيُّكُمْ بعْدِي" .
