The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2303
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would often spend many consecutive nights with an empty stomach, to the extent that the people of his household would not have food for the night. And often, the only bread they would have to eat was made from barley.

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ کئی کئی راتیں مسلسل اس طرح خالی پیٹ گزار دیتے تھے کہ اہل خانہ کو رات کا کھانا نہیں ملتا تھا، اور اکثر انہیں کھانے کے لئے جو روٹی ملتی تھی وہ جو کی ہوتی تھی۔
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) kai kai raaten musalsal is tarah khali pet guzar dete the ki ahl khana ko raat ka khana nahi milta tha, aur aksar unhen khane ke liye jo roti milti thi woh jau ki hoti thi.
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ يَزِيدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِلَالٌ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاس ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ" يَبِيتُ اللَّيَالِي الْمُتَتَابِعَةَ طَاوِيًا، وَأَهْلُهُ لَا يَجِدُونَ عَشَاءً" , قَالَ: وَكَانَ عَامَّةُ خُبْزِهِمْ خُبْزَ الشَّعِيرِ.
