Hadith of Salman al-Farsi, may Allah be pleased with him.

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 23707
Abu Uthman said that once I was with Salman Farsi, may Allah be pleased with him, under a tree. He held a dry branch of it and shook it, and its leaves began to fall. Then he said, “O Abu Uthman! Why don't you ask me why I did that?” I said, "Why did you do that?" He said, "Once I was with the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, under a tree, and the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, did the same with me and the same questions and answers were exchanged. After which the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: When a Muslim performs ablution well and prays the five daily prayers, his sins fall away just as these leaves are falling.” Then the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, recited this verse: “And establish prayer at the two ends of the day and at the approach of the night. Indeed, good deeds do away with misdeeds. That is a reminder for those who remember."

ابوعثمان کہتے ہیں کہ ایک مرتبہ میں حضرت سلمان فارسی رضی اللہ عنہ کے ساتھ ایک درخت کے نیچے تھا انہوں نے اس کی ایک خشک ٹہنی کو پکڑ کر اسے ہلایا تو اس کے پتے گرنے لگے پھر انہوں نے فرمایا کہ اے ابو عثمان! تم مجھ سے یہ کیوں نہیں پوچھتے کہ میں نے ایسا کیوں کیا؟ میں نے کہا کہ آپ نے ایسا کیوں کیا؟ انہوں نے فرمایا کہ ایک مرتبہ میں نبی کریم ﷺ کے ساتھ ایک درخت کے نیچے تھا تو نبی کریم ﷺ نے میرے ساتھ بھی اسی طرح کیا تھا اور یہی سوال و جواب ہوئے تھے جس کے بعد نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا تھا کہ جب کوئی مسلمان خوب اچھی طرح وضو کرے اور پانچوں نمازیں پڑھے تو اس کے گناہ اسی طرح جھڑ جاتے ہیں جیسے یہ پتے جھڑ رہے ہیں پھر نبی کریم ﷺ نے یہ آیت تلاوت فرمائی۔ " واقم الصلاۃ طرفی النھار وزلفا من اللیل ان الحسنات یذہبن السئیات ذلک ذکرٰی للذاکرین "
Abu Usman kehte hain ke aik martaba main Hazrat Salman Farsi (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ke sath aik darakht ke neeche tha unhon ne uski aik khushk tehni ko pakar kar use hilaya to uske patte girne lage phir unhon ne farmaya ke aye Abu Usman! tum mujhse ye kyun nahin puchte ke main ne aisa kyun kiya? main ne kaha ke aap ne aisa kyun kiya? unhon ne farmaya ke aik martaba main Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke sath aik darakht ke neeche tha to Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne mere sath bhi isi tarah kiya tha aur yahi sawal o jawab huwe the jis ke baad Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya tha ke jab koi musalman khoob acchi tarah wazu kare aur panchon namazain parhe to uske gunah isi tarah jhad jate hain jaise ye patte jhad rahe hain phir Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne ye ayat tilawat farmai. "Wa Aqeemus Salaata Tarafee An-Nahaari Wa Zulfan Mina-al Layli Innal Hasanaati Yuzhibnas Sayyi aati Zalika Zikraal Liz Zakireen".
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ مَعَ سَلْمَانَ الْفَارِسِيِّ تَحْتَ شَجَرَةٍ، وَأَخَذَ مِنْهَا غُصْنًا يَابِسًا، فَهَزَّهُ حَتَّى تَحَاتَّ وَرَقُهُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: يَا أَبَا عُثْمَانَ، أَلَا تَسْأَلُنِي لِمَ أَفْعَلُ هَذَا؟ قُلْتُ: وَلِمَ تَفْعَلُهُ؟ فَقَالَ: هَكَذَا فَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنَا مَعَهُ تَحْتَ شَجَرَةٍ، فَأَخَذَ مِنْهَا غُصْنًا يَابِسًا فَهَزَّهُ حَتَّى تَحَاتَّ وَرَقُهُ، فَقَالَ: يَا سَلْمَانُ، أَلَا تَسْأَلُنِي لِمَ أَفْعَلُ هَذَا؟" فَقُلْتُ: وَلِمَ تَفْعَلُهُ؟ قَالَ: " إِنَّ الْمُسْلِمَ إِذَا تَوَضَّأَ فَأَحْسَنَ الْوُضُوءَ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى الصَّلَوَاتِ الْخَمْسَ، تَحَاتَّتْ خَطَايَاهُ كَمَا يَتَحَاتُّ هَذَا الْوَرَقُ"، وَقَالَ وَأَقِمِ الصَّلاةَ طَرَفَيِ النَّهَارِ وَزُلَفًا مِنَ اللَّيْلِ إِنَّ الْحَسَنَاتِ يُذْهِبْنَ السَّيِّئَاتِ ذَلِكَ ذِكْرَى لِلذَّاكِرِينَ سورة هود آية 114 .
