Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 23752
It is narrated on the authority of Jabir bin Atik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "There are some types of jealousy that are beloved to Allah and some that are disliked by Him. Similarly, there are some types of pride that are beloved to Allah and some that are disliked by Him. So the jealousy that is beloved to Allah is in those things in which there is an aspect of a person (i.e., protecting one's honor and family), and the disliked one is that in which there is no aspect of doubt (i.e., baseless suspicion). And the pride that is beloved to Allah is that a person shows himself prominently for the sake of Allah's pleasure at the time of fighting and in charity and good deeds (and the disliked one is that which is only for the sake of arrogance or rebellion)."

حضرت جابر بن عتیک رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا غیرت کی بعض قسمیں ایسی ہیں جو اللہ کو محبوب ہیں اور بعض ایسی ہیں جو اللہ کو مبغوض ہیں اسی طرح تکبر کی بعض قسمیں ایسی ہیں جو اللہ کو محبوب ہیں اور بعض ایسی ہیں جو مبغوض ہیں چناچہ وہ غیرت جو اللہ کو محبوب ہے وہ ان چیزوں میں ہوتی ہے جن میں کوئی شخص کا پہلو موجود ہو اور مبغوض وہ ہے جس میں شک کا کوئی پہلو موجود نہ ہو اور وہ تکبر جو اللہ کو محبوب ہے وہ یہ ہے کہ انسان اللہ کی رضا کے لئے قتال کے وقت اپنے آپ کو نمایاں کرے اور صدقات و خیرات میں نمایاں کرے (اور مبغوض وہ ہے جو صرف فخر یا بغاوت کے لئے ہو)
Hazrat Jaber bin Atik (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne irshad farmaya ghairat ki baz qismen aisi hain jo Allah ko mahboob hain aur baz aisi hain jo Allah ko mabghuz hain isi tarah takabbur ki baz qismen aisi hain jo Allah ko mahboob hain aur baz aisi hain jo mabghuz hain chunancha woh ghairat jo Allah ko mahboob hai woh un cheezon mein hoti hai jin mein koi shakhs ka pahloo mojood ho aur mabghuz woh hai jis mein shak ka koi pahloo mojood na ho aur woh takabbur jo Allah ko mahboob hai woh ye hai ki insan Allah ki raza ke liye qatal ke waqt apne aap ko numaya kare aur sadqat o khairat mein numaya kare (aur mabghuz woh hai jo sirf fakhr ya baghawat ke liye ho).
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَتِيكٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " إِنَّ مِنَ الْغَيْرَةِ مَا يُحِبُّ اللَّهُ وَمِنْهَا مَا يُبْغِضُ اللَّهُ، وَإِنَّ مِنَ الْخُيَلَاءِ مَا يُحِبُّ اللَّهُ وَمِنْهَا مَا يُبْغِضُ اللَّهُ، وَأَمَّا الْغَيْرَةُ الَّتِي يُحِبُّ اللَّهُ فَالْغَيْرَةُ الَّتِي فِي الرِّيبَةِ، وَأَمَّا الْغَيْرَةُ الَّتِي يُبْغِضُ اللَّهُ فَالْغَيْرَةُ فِي غَيْرِ الرِّيبَةِ، وَأَمَّا الْخُيَلَاءُ الَّتِي يُحِبُّ اللَّهُ فَاخْتِيَالُ الرَّجُلِ بِنَفْسِهِ عِنْدَ الْقِتَالِ وَاخْتِيَالُهُ عِنْدَ الصَّدَقَةِ، وَالْخُيَلَاءُ الَّتِي يُبْغِضُ اللَّهُ فَاخْتِيَالُ الرَّجُلِ فِي الْفَخْرِ وَالْبَغْيِ" .
