The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2538
`Abdul Rahman bin Wa'lah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I once asked Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), "We are engaged in Jihad with the people of the West, and their waterskins are usually made of the skin of dead animals." He replied, "I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say, 'Any skin that has been tanned becomes pure.'" `

عبدالرحمن بن وعلہ رحمہ اللہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے ایک مرتبہ سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے عرض کیا کہ ہم لوگ اہل مغرب سے جہاد کرتے ہیں اور ان کے مشکیزے عام طور پر مردار کی کھال کے ہوتے ہیں، انہوں نے فرمایا کہ میں نے نبی ﷺ کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے کہ ”جس کھال کو دباغت دے لی جائے وہ پاک ہو جاتی ہے۔“
Abdulrehman bin Wa'alah rehmatullah alaih kehte hain ke maine ek martaba Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se arz kiya ke hum log ahl maghrib se jihad karte hain aur unke mashkize aam taur per murdar ki khaal ke hote hain, unhon ne farmaya ke maine Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko farmate huye suna hai ke "Jis khaal ko dibaaghat de li jaye woh pak ho jati hai."
حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ وَعْلَةَ ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ، قُلْتُ: إِنَّا نَغْزُو هَذَا الْمَغْرِبَ، وَأَكْثَرُ أَسْقِيَتِهِمْ جُلُودُ الْمَيْتَةِ؟ قَالَ: فَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَقُولُ:" دِبَاغُهَا طُهُورُهَا".
