The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2654
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidina Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "There is no one among the children of Adam, except Yahya (John) son of Zakariyya (peace be upon them), who has not committed a mistake (sin) or intended to commit a sin. And it is not appropriate for anyone to say that I am better than Yunus (Jonah) son of Matta (peace be upon him)."

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا: ”حضرت یحیی علیہ السلام کے علاوہ اولاد آدم میں سے کوئی ایسا نہیں ہے جس نے کوئی غلطی یعنی گناہ نہ کیا ہو، یا گناہ کا ارادہ نہ کیا ہو، اور کسی شخص کے لئے یہ کہنا مناسب نہیں ہے کہ میں حضرت یونس علیہ السلام سے بہتر ہوں۔“
Syedna Ibn Abbas Radi Allaho Anhuma se marvi hai keh Rasool Allah Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam ne irshad farmaya: “Hazrat Yahya Alaihissalam ke elawa aulad Adam mein se koi aisa nahi hai jis ne koi ghalti yani gunah na kia ho, ya gunah ka irada na kia ho, aur kisi shakhs ke liye yeh kehna munasib nahi hai keh main Hazrat Yunus Alaihissalam se behtar hun.”
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ يُوسُفَ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ:" مَا مِنْ أَحَدٍ مِنْ وَلَدِ آدَمَ، إِلَّا قَدْ أَخْطَأَ، أَوْ هَمَّ بِخَطِيئَةٍ، لَيْسَ يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا، وَمَا يَنْبَغِي لِأَحَدٍ أَنْ يَقُولَ: أَنَا خَيْرٌ مِنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ مَتَّى".
