Ya'la bin Mamlak said: I asked Umm Salama, may Allah be pleased with her, about the night prayer and recitation of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. She said: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would pray and recite after the Isha prayer for as long as he would sleep, and he would sleep for as long as he would pray, and then the Prophet's prayer, peace and blessings be upon him, would end in the morning.

یعلی بن مملک کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے نبی ﷺ کی رات کی نماز اور قرأت کے متعلق حضرت ام سلمہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے پوچھا تو انہوں نے فرمایا نبی ﷺ عشاء کی نماز اور نوافل پڑھ کر جتنی دیرسوتے تھے اتنی دیر نماز پڑھتے تھے اور جتنی دیر نماز پڑھتے تھے اتنی دیرسوتے تھے پھر نبی ﷺ کی نماز کا اختتام صبح پر ہوتا تھا۔
Yaali bin Mamlik kehte hain ke maine Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ki raat ki namaz aur qirat ke mutalliq Hazrat Umm Salma (Razi Allah Tala Anha) se pucha to unhon ne farmaya Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) Isha ki namaz aur nawafil parh kar jitni dair sote the utni dair namaz parhte the aur jitni dair namaz parhte the utni dair sote the phir Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ki namaz ka ikhtetam subah par hota tha.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ , وَعَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ , قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ ، قَالَ: عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ , قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ : أَخْبَرَنِي يَعْلَى بْنُ مَمْلَكٍ ، أَنَّهُ , سَأَلَ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , عَنْ صَلَاةِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِاللَّيْلِ , قَالَتْ: " كَانَ يُصَلِّي الْعِشَاءَ الْآخِرَةَ، ثُمَّ يُسَبِّحُ، ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي بَعْدَهَا مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ، ثُمَّ يَنْصَرِفُ، فَيَرْقُدُ مِثْلَ مَا صَلَّى، ثُمَّ يَسْتَيْقِظُ مِنْ نَوْمَتِهِ تِلْكَ، فَيُصَلِّي مِثْلَ مَا نَامَ، وَصَلَاتُهُ الْآخِرَةُ تَكُونُ إِلَى الصُّبْحِ .
