Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 26950
It is narrated on the authority of Asma that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying, "Any woman amongst you who believes in Allah and the Last Day should not raise her head from prostration until we men raise our heads." Actually, the lower garments of men were short, therefore, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) disliked that the gaze of women should fall upon the private parts of men, and in those days, the lower garment of people used to be these sheets (they did not wear trousers).

حضرت اسماء سے مروی ہے کہ میں نے نبی ﷺ کو یہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے کہ تم میں سے جو عورت اللہ اور یوم آخرت پر ایمان رکھتی ہے وہ سجدے سے اپنا سر اس وقت تک نہ اٹھایا کرے جب تک ہم مرد اپنا سر نہ اٹھالیں، دراصل مردوں کے تہبند چھوٹے ہوتے تھے اس لئے نبی ﷺ اس بات کو ناپسند سمجھتے تھے کہ خواتین کی نگاہ مردوں کی شرمگاہ پر نہ پڑیں اور اس زمانے میں لوگوں کا تہبند یہ چادریں ہوتی تھیں۔ (شلواریں نہیں ہوتی تھیں)
Hazrat Asma se marvi hai keh maine Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko ye farmate huye suna hai keh tum mein se jo aurat Allah aur Youm Aakhirat per imaan rakhti hai wo sajday se apna sar us waqt tak na uthaya kare jab tak hum mard apna sar na uthalen, darasal mardon ke tehband chhote hote thay is liye Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) is baat ko napasand samajhte thay keh khawateen ki nigaah mardon ki sharmgah per na parhen aur is zamanay mein logon ka tehband ye chadariyan hoti thin. (shalwarein nahi hoti thin).
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي النُّعْمَانُ بْنُ رَاشِدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَخِي الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ مَوْلًى لِأَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ ، قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " يَا مَعْشَرَ النِّسَاءِ، مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ، فَلَا تَرْفَعْ رَأْسَهَا حَتَّى يَرْفَعَ الرِّجَالُ رُءُوسَهُمْ" , قَالَتْ: وَذَلِكَ أَنَّ أُزُرَهُمْ كَانَتْ قَصِيرَةً، مَخَافَةَ أَنْ تَنْكَشِفَ عَوْرَاتُهُمْ إِذَا سَجَدُوا.
