The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2739
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidina Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Do not boast about your forefathers who died in the pre-Islamic period of ignorance. By the One in whose hand is my soul, the dust that enters the nostrils of a Muslim is better than your forefathers who died in the pre-Islamic period of ignorance."

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا: ”اپنے ان آباؤ اجداد پر فخر نہ کیا کرو جو زمانہ جاہلیت میں مرگئے ہوں، اس ذات کی قسم! جس کے دست قدرت میں میری جان ہے، ایک مسلمان کی ناک کے نتھنوں میں جو گرد و غبار لڑھک کر چلا جاتا ہے وہ تمہارے ان آباؤ اجداد سے بہتر ہے جو زمانہ جاہلیت میں مر گئے۔“
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne irshad farmaya apne un abaao ajdad par fakhr na kiya karo jo zamana jahiliyat mein margaye hon is zaat ki qasam jis ke dast qudrat mein meri jaan hai ek musalman ki naak ke natthon mein jo gard o ghubar ladh kar chala jata hai wo tumhare un abaao ajdad se behtar hai jo zamana jahiliyat mein mar gaye
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ يَعْنِي الدَّسْتُوَائِيَّ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ:" لَا تَفْتَخِرُوا بِآبَائِكُمْ الَّذِينَ مَاتُوا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ، فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ، لَمَا يُدَهْدِهُ الْجُعَلُ بِمَنْخَرَيْهِ، خَيْرٌ مِنْ آبَائِكُمْ الَّذِينَ مَاتُوا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ".
