The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3042
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of the Battle of Badr, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was in his tent, supplicating, "O Allah! Fulfill Your promise. O Allah! If (this small group of Muslims is destroyed today) then You will never be worshipped again on earth." Seeing this, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddique (may Allah be pleased with him) came forward and held the hand of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said, "O Prophet of Allah! You have supplicated enough to your Lord, He will surely fulfill His promise." So, Allah Almighty revealed this verse: “The multitude shall be routed, and they shall turn their backs (and flee).” (Al-Qamar: 45)

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ غزوہ بدر کے دن اپنے خیمے میں نبی ﷺ نے دعا کرتے ہوئے فرمایا: ”الہی! اپنا وعدہ پورا فرما، الہی! اگر (آج یہ مٹھی بھر مسلمان ختم ہو گئے تو) زمین میں پھر کبھی بھی آپ کی عبادت نہیں کی جائے گی۔“ یہ دیکھ کر سیدنا ابوبکر صدیق رضی اللہ عنہ آگے بڑھے اور نبی ﷺ کا ہاتھ پکڑ کر کہنے لگے: اے اللہ کے نبی! آپ نے اپنے رب سے بہت دعا کر لی، وہ اپنا وعدہ ضرور پورا کرے گا، چنانچہ اللہ تعالیٰ نے یہ آیت نازل فرما دی: «﴿سَيُهْزَمُ الْجَمْعُ وَيُوَلُّونَ الدُّبُرَ﴾ [القمر: 45] » ”عنقریب اس جمعیت کو شکست ہو جائے گی اور یہ لوگ پشت پھیر کر بھاگ جائیں گے۔“
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Ghazwa e Badr ke din apne khaime mein Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne dua karte hue farmaya: Ilahi! Apna waada pura farma, Ilahi! Agar (aaj ye muthi bhar musalman khatam ho gaye to) zameen mein phir kabhi bhi aap ki ibadat nahin ki jayegi. Ye dekh kar Sayyidna Abu Bakr Siddiq (رضي الله تعالى عنه) aage barhe aur Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka hath pakar kar kahne lage: Aye Allah ke Nabi! Aap ne apne Rab se bahut dua kar li, wo apna waada zaroor poora karega, chunancha Allah Ta'ala ne ye ayat nazil farma di: Sayahazamul jamu wa yuwallunad dubur. Anqareeb is jamat ko shikast ho jayegi aur ye log pusht pher kar bhaag jayenge.
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ وَهُوَ فِي قُبَّةٍ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ:" اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَنْشُدُكَ عَهْدَكَ وَوَعْدَكَ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ شِئْتَ لَمْ تُعْبَدْ بَعْدَ الْيَوْمِ" فَأَخَذَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ بِيَدِهِ، فَقَالَ: حَسْبُكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، فَقَدْ أَلْحَحْتَ عَلَى رَبِّكَ. وَهُوَ يَثِبُ فِي الدِّرْعِ، فَخَرَجَ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: سَيُهْزَمُ الْجَمْعُ وَيُوَلُّونَ الدُّبُرَ سورة القمر آية 45.
