The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3103
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidina Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when Sayyidina Uthman bin Maz'oon (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, a woman said, “Congratulations to you, Uthman, for Paradise!” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) looked at the woman angrily and said, "How do you know?" She replied, “O Messenger of Allah! He was your companion and rider (so he will go to Paradise after death).” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "By Allah! Despite being the Prophet of Allah, I do not know what will happen to me." Hearing this, the people were afraid about Sayyidina Uthman bin Maz'oon (may Allah be pleased with him). But when the Prophet's (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) daughter, Sayyida Ruqayyah (may Allah be pleased with her) passed away, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Go and meet Uthman bin Maz'oon, the best of our companions who has gone before us.” (This proved that Uthman bin Maz'oon was in Paradise). At this, the women began to weep. Sayyidina Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) started beating them with a whip. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) caught his hand and said, "Umar! Stop it." Then he said to the women, "You are allowed to weep, but protect yourselves from the cry of Satan." Then he said, "As long as it is a matter of the eyes and the heart, it is from Allah and is a cause of mercy. But when it comes to the hands and the tongue, it is from Satan." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sat at the edge of the grave, and Sayyida Fatima (may Allah be pleased with her) continued to weep by his side. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) wiped Sayyida Fatima's (may Allah be pleased with her) eyes with his own garment out of compassion.

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ جب سیدنا عثمان بن مظعون رضی اللہ عنہ کا انتقال ہوا تو ایک خاتون کہنے لگی کہ عثمان! تمہیں جنت مبارک ہو، نبی ﷺ نے اس خاتون کی طرف غصے بھری نگاہوں سے دیکھا اور فرمایا: ”تمہیں کیسے پتہ چلا؟“ اس نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ ﷺ ! یہ آپ کے شہسوار اور ساتھی تھے (اس لئے مرنے کے بعد جنت ہی میں جائیں گے)، نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”واللہ! مجھے اللہ کا پیغمبر ہونے کے باوجود معلوم نہیں ہے کہ میرے ساتھ کیا ہوگا“، یہ سن کر لوگ سیدنا عثمان بن مظعون رضی اللہ عنہ کے بارے ڈر گئے لیکن جب نبی ﷺ کی صاحبزادی سیدہ رقیہ رضی اللہ عنہا کا انتقال ہوا تو نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”ہمارے آگے جانے والے بہترین ساتھی عثمان بن مظعون سے جا ملو“ (جس سے ان کا جنتی ہونا ثابت ہوگیا)۔ اس پر عورتیں رونے لگیں، سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ انہیں کوڑوں سے مارنے لگے، نبی ﷺ نے ان کا ہاتھ پکڑ لیا اور فرمایا: ”عمر! رک جاؤ“، پھر خواتین سے فرمایا کہ ”تمہیں رونے کی اجازت ہے لیکن شیطان کی چیخ و پکار سے اپنے آپ کو بچاؤ“، پھر فرمایا کہ ”جب تک یہ آنکھ اور دل کا معاملہ رہے تو اللہ کی طرف سے ہوتا ہے اور باعث رحمت ہوتا ہے، اور جب ہاتھ اور زبان تک نوبت پہنچ جائے تو یہ شیطان کی طرف سے ہوتا ہے“، پھر نبی ﷺ قبر کے کنارے پر بیٹھ گئے اور سیدہ فاطمہ رضی اللہ عنہا ان کے پہلو میں روتی رہیں، اور نبی ﷺ شفقت سے سیدہ فاطمہ رضی اللہ عنہا کی آنکھیں اپنے کپڑے سے پونچھنے لگے۔
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki jab Sayyidna Usman bin Mazoon (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ka inteqal hua to ek khatoon kehne lagi ki Usman! tumhein jannat mubarak ho, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne is khatoon ki taraf ghusse bhari nigahon se dekha aur farmaya: ”tumhein kaise pata chala?“ usne arz kiya: Ya Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ! yeh aap ke shahsawar aur saathi the (is liye marne ke baad jannat hi mein jayenge), Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”Wallahi! mujhe Allah ka paighambar hone ke bawajood maloom nahin hai ki mere saath kya hoga“, yeh sun kar log Sayyidna Usman bin Mazoon (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ke bare dar gaye lekin jab Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki sahabzadi Sayyida Ruqayya ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) ka inteqal hua to Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”humare aage jaane wale behtarin saathi Usman bin Mazoon se ja milo“ (jis se un ka jannati hona sabit hogaya). is par auraten rone lagi, Sayyidna Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) unhein koodon se marne lage, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne un ka haath pakad liya aur farmaya: ”Umar! ruk jao“, phir khawateen se farmaya ki ”tumhein rone ki ijazat hai lekin shaitan ki cheekh o pukar se apne aap ko bachao“, phir farmaya ki ”jab tak yeh aankh aur dil ka mamla rahe to Allah ki taraf se hota hai aur baais rehmat hota hai, aur jab haath aur zaban tak nobat pahunch jaye to yeh shaitan ki taraf se hota hai“, phir Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) qabar ke kinare par baith gaye aur Sayyida Fatima ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) un ke pahlu mein roti rahin, aur Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) shafqat se Sayyida Fatima ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) ki aankhein apne kapde se pochhne lage.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ وَحَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ . قَالَ أَبِي: حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَلَيُّ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ يُوسُفَ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ: لَمَّا مَاتَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ مَظْعُونٍ قَالَتْ: امْرَأَتُهُ هَنِيئًا لَكَ يَا ابْنَ مَظْعُونٍ بِالْجَنَّةِ، قَالَ: فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَظْرَةَ غَضَبٍ، فَقَالَ لَهَا:" مَا يُدْرِيكِ؟! فَوَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ، وَمَا أَدْرِي مَا يُفْعَلُ بِي قَالَ عَفَّانُ: وَلَا بِهِ"، قَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، فَارِسُكَ وَصَاحِبُكَ! فَاشْتَدَّ ذَلِكَ عَلَى أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ قَالَ ذَلِكَ لِعُثْمَانَ، وَكَانَ مِنْ خِيَارِهِمْ، حَتَّى مَاتَتْ رُقَيَّةُ ابْنَةُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ:" الْحَقِي بِسَلَفِنَا الْخَيْرِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ مَظْعُونٍ" قَالَ: وَبَكَتْ النِّسَاءُ، فَجَعَلَ عُمَرُ يَضْرِبُهُنَّ بِسَوْطِهِ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِعُمَرَ:" دَعْهُنَّ يَبْكِينَ، وَإِيَّاكُنَّ وَنَعِيقَ الشَّيْطَانِ" ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" مَهْمَا يَكُنْ مِنَ الْقَلْبِ وَالْعَيْنِ، فَمِنْ اللَّهِ وَالرَّحْمَةِ، وَمَهْمَا كَانَ مِنَ الْيَدِ وَاللِّسَانِ، فَمِنْ الشَّيْطَانِ". وَقَعَدَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى شَفِيرِ الْقَبْرِ، وَفَاطِمَةُ إِلَى جَنْبِهِ تَبْكِي، فَجَعَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمْسَحُ عَيْنَ فَاطِمَةَ بِثَوْبِهِ، رَحْمَةً لَهَا.
