The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3320
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had a kohl container from which he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to apply kohl (called Ithmid) at bedtime (every day). He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would apply three lines of kohl in each eye.

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ کے پاس ایک سرمہ دانی تھی، جس سے آپ ﷺ (روزانہ) سوتے وقت (اثمد نامی) سرمہ لگایا کرتے تھے، آپ ﷺ ہر آنکھ میں تین سلائی سرمہ لگاتے تھے۔
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke pass ek surma daani thi, jis se aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) (rozana) sote waqt (Ismid naami) surma lagaya karte the, aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) har aankh mein teen salai surma lagaate the.
حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَكْتَحِلُ بِالْإِثْمِدِ كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنَامَ، وَكَانَ يَكْتَحِلُ فِي كُلِّ عَيْنٍ ثَلَاثَةَ أَمْيَالٍ".
